:( :(   We too are in a pickle with fiances as a lot of my medical bills ate up or fun money, we may not make it to TRF at all this year.  But we have a truck payment , furniture and appliance payments dropping off at the end of the year, and we will be a Sherwood for sure.

aaaand... I got downsized meself. Actually, a steady security detail contract we had went kaput, and the high-threat detail (translation: "butt-tonne of money") we were supposed to have had was canceled. End result: one PSD specialist out o' work, and unable to take overseas contracts due to a pregnant wife, cause I am NOT going to leave her while she's pregnant with our first child. Grrr...  Sheriff's dept. is still in the works, but like any law enforcement agency, that involves several months and a butt-tonne of paperwork, so not for a while yet.

So, while not really fired, I am having to look for steadier full-time employment. Blargh!
I'm so sorry to hear that Breandan. I hope things start picking for you and that you find a job soon my friend.

Got positive feedback from a company I interviewed with, they contacted me this morning asking for references. It's a little different from what I normally do (administrative stuff as opposed to field work, but in the same general field), but it pays a helluva lot better than I was making. I was going a little nuts last night with the whole primal must-provide-for-family! reflex, so I needed some hopeful news. Let's just hope this one pans out into a job *crosses fingers*

Best of luck with getting the job.

if I get it, I'll be the company's representative to law enforcement customers, so I should have weekends free since I'll be working on their schedule (usually m-f).

well, found out today that the company has decided not to open the position, and aren't going to pursue it further... this means A) figure out some way of bringing in enough money to pay bills until the sheriff's dept. paperwork goes through (90 days, best guess), take an overseas position in Kosovo that pays crap ($55k base, damn near half what overseas positions normally pay), but has bennies and a month of vacation time so I can be back here for the birth of our first-born, or a PSD gig in Iraq babysitting translators which pays a lot better, but only two weeks of vacation time and no bennies that have been put on the table at this point. Blargh! Damned economic downturn has gutted the executive protection market domestically, so I'm buggered right now. Anyone need a kidney?  ;D

Isn't "executive protection" one of the services that the Mafia offers, for a price?   ;)   :D
