Rani- the novels or the next game? Novels are harder to write because I need brainpower for the storyline, which is hard to do when I am wrangling a 14-month-old who is stubbornly determined to push the boundaries of Natural Selection. Game is outlined, but uses the same core game mechanics, so it'll be quicker to knock out.

As Mouse, Fraser and Juju can attest, I was wiped out at the con- albeit, largely because Jeff snores like a C-5 Galaxy trying to take off with a clogged intake. I didn't have time to chase girls, couldn't even flirt with Juju or Lollie, I was so fried. I need more lackeys

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you sell the hell outta the game for a year or so, at least, before you bring out any sort of expansion for it?  Make 'em beg for it!  ;)

But the novels should have a definite impact on game sales, if you can get the first one out there fairly soon, anyway.  The characters are compelling, and the storyline is solid, so it makes people want to go further in the same setting.  What better way than to become a character in your universe?  ;)

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the word you're looking for is "minions"...  heheh  Problem is... they can't really help much when it's the author the public wants to meet... OR when Fionna wants to play with daddy.  :P

no, Fíonna wants to play with daddy's laptop, and one reformatted hard drive incident is enough for one lifetime >.<

...seriously, I have no idea how the hell she does some of the things she pulls off. She slapped my keyboard with a giggle, and the entire display on my monitor turned 90 degrees sideways. Things like that.

As for expansion, the next expansion isn't due out till the end of the year, but we still have to write it. This is actually an entirely new game under the same publisher, and using the same basic game mechanics to allow for crossover compatibility. Basically, its a push to cash in on the current urban fantasy craze just in time for Jim to release the next Dresden Files novel and spike interest. Granted, the Dresden Files has its own RPG, but it uses an obscure game mechanics system that a lot of folks are put-off by. So, we'll see how this one fares. If nothing else, we'll use it for our own games :)

of course, I said that about the DNRPG, and look how THAT turned out... >.<

Of course... because daddy's laptop is taking daddy's attention away from Fionna... duh.  ::)  And your daughter is obviously an Efrit (it's the red hair that gives her away), so you're lucky she hasn't burned the house down yet!  :P  Slagging a harddrive should be, well... child's play, for her...  heheh  Good luck with that one!  ;)

What about the Dresden Files ISN'T obscure?!?  I mean, really?  In fact, I kind of thought that was the draw.

Sooo... does this mean you will now commence cranking out games like some people crank out books, then?  Or is it just this one more, and then the novels?  Because, uhhh... we're still waiting.  :P

So, here's the logo I was working on last month...  They've already put it on their website, so I'm not divulging any secrets.

Except for the color scheme, I had full creative control, so this is all my own design work.  The city-scape in the background is actually the Houston skyline...

You've got to look at Ed Greenwood did with the Forgotten Realms... started as an adaptation for AD & D and now there are over 100 novels dealing with his world.

*Of course, i think that Gary Gygax got sc**wed in that deal*

Hospitaller

Great job on the logo Rani!!

Sheesh, too bad I missed the conversation on the maille a couple of days ago (fyi for anyone who really gives a s&^t: it is not chain maille...its just maille/maile/mail. Sorry, one of those things that gets armor/weapons historyphiles;)) . I have a love/hate relationship with the maille makers at Scarby and TRF. When in the Hosp persona I wear historically correct riveted maille, which they always want to steal from me. Not sure if it's to hide or to copy, HA! :o :D

Breandan - Congrats on the quick game sellout. Good to see it working out for ya!

Rani Zemirah

Thanks, Hos... it was fun to work on!

Well, they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...  Perhaps the maille makers there just want to see if they can reproduce such intricate work!  ;)
