Seeking some advice here -

I'd like some leads on reasonably priced Victorian Men's Frock Coats or Tail Coats and Trousers to wear at Dickens on The Strand and other Victorian themed events.

What is most important in defining which type of coat is appropriate - "class" of person, or time of day?  Which type would be more appropriate for an alternate use in a Steampunk outfit?

I've heard that the Waistcoat (vest) is one way to add color in a Victorian outfit, so I guess it would be nice to have one with a Christmas look, and another one that would work for Steampunk.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

Probably get lots more responses over in the Steampunk thread, I'm sure.  I'm not terribly conversant on the different classes of the period, although if you were to look at some of the complete sets of garb they have in the Gentlemen's Emporium you will find clothing styles worn by several different classes/professions/trades, which could give you a better idea of where to start, depending on the look you're interested in.  Once you have determined they style, you can then begin to look around for either a tailor/seamstress to make one for you, or else find a vendor with one in your particular price range, matching the cut and quality of fabric you require.

Of course, the Emporium has wonderful goods, and their prices are about the average, so you can look around and still keep them in mind.

But Victorian is really just the base layer for Steampunk, and there is a great deal more to it than just the clothing.  When you want to accessorize, there are some wonderful links in the SP thread...

Yeah... I really think I'd enjoy being paid for giving advice, as well!  :P  :D

I own several things from Gentlemans Emporium, nice stuff.  I'll second that suggestion.

There are a bunch of links here,

You can find plenty of steampunk and victorian type stuff at these various vendors.

Much better than those angry rabid squirrels from last year, though...

Just finished my storytelling stint for church camp this year.  Got to tell creation legends from the Miwok and Zuni Indian tribes this time.  It was pretty awesome...  The Zuni's actually had a handle on evolution through genetic mutation, although extremely simplified, and of course, deified, as well.  The Miwok just believed the Animals created us, at the request of Great Spirit.  Interesting stories, though, and the kids enjoyed them... so it was fun for me, as well.

I'm doomed.

To explain- considering we only had a small printing run for Comicpalooza, which didn't make it in time for the con, and considering we had precisely zero exposure prior to the cone, we sold out in less than a week from internet sales and local gaming stores (FYI- Fat Ogre Games in Spring is carrying the Dark Nova RPG for those who want to take a look). Unfortunately, the push is now on to produce the next product line, and I am once again chained to the laptop writing an urban-fantasy (think Dresden Files, Constantine, or any number of non-sparkly vampire/werewolf novels) RPG. I shall never escape *headdesk*

On the plus side, knocking out some artwork for it here :D

Oh, Breandan... that's marvelous!!!  I'm sooo excited for you!  I knew it was going to be a success, and it can only get bigger with each con you show it at!!!

And, uhhh... I thought you were ALREADY supposed to be chained to the laptop, writing... so no major change there, right?  ::)  LOL

So, there's another, much bigger run of the game coming off the presses now, then?  And how close are you to having at least the first of the series finished?  Rough draft, anyway...?
