It may just be me being ignorant all these years but I noticed on the Broadsheet it list Dragon Tale Celtic Band under Evan's Tavern. I looked on the map that came in the brochure and can't find it. Of course the map still says Dragon's breath instead of Sparrow Tavern. So did a Pub get renamed, is there a new Pub, or am I just blind?

Ya know....I really don't know....sorry.

The map shows a new pub out in the new Special Events Area.  So maybe that is it?

I like the old name Dragon's Breath Pub. I grew up knowing it as that, I can remember in my childhood my dad would say I'm getting Dragon's Breath Ale, and at one tiem I guess there was a micro-brew there by that name. The Sparrow Tavern makes it sound as if they took the name from Pirates of The Carribean. And as far as this new tavern, that'd be great if they added a new one in the Special Events area especially for the tastings since it's so hot out there and you have to carry your drink far away to find some shade then make a long trek back to the vendor. I just got my brochure today haven't gone through it yet.

Looked at the map, no Evans Pub/Tavern found. I will give a tip to the only pub/inn that carries Guinness Extra Stout in the bottle at faire. It's the Knight's Inn in front of the Ample and Trite Stage  the Igor's Roost Stage. That draught Guinness, just isn't real Guinness to me. It's more for the Budweiser and Miller beer fans. Another great ale that can be found only at one place is Celis White located in the market circle off the Griffon stage, in a little counter next to a leather shop, and a large tree they also sell lots of food on this end. It used to bewear E-Muzeki played if that helps. I always try to find the better beers/ales at faire.

I think it pretty safe to assume that pub out in the new area is the Evans Pub.

Looking at the map, it's not named, but as M'Lord Pumpernickel pointed out, there are some updates to the map that didn't happen prior to publishing.  :)

As recently as last weekend, the Special Events Pavillion was not in it's traditional place next to the castle. I believe the plan is that it will be erected in the Special Events (new) area this year. Or not... as it might interfere with the Highland games coming next weekend. Who knows.

The area outside the Castle is in the broadsheet as a performance area called Castle Lawn.

Did everyone notice that there would only be one daily feast this season? And that the Tea and the Smoker were both inside the Castle once again?  :)

It'll be fun to check out all the new stuff for this season. Only scant HOURS away now!

The Dragon Breath Pub will always be "The Dragon Breath Pub"  for me as well!

I had a hard time calling the main pub "Guiness".  I'd say, "Meet me at Watney's" and everyone would give me this look.

;D

As for Guinness the beer that America receives is Guinness Export less alcohol and less flavor but not for Miller Budweiser people. Trust me I tried to get my friends to actually drink good beer but will not have more then one sip of Guinness Export, they hate it. The kind closer to Ireland brew is Like Guinness extra stout the only problem being is a good Guinness pint requires roughly 75% nitrogen 25% carbon which you can't achieve with out using a tap or their nitrogen ball/rocket widget not found in the extra stout. The best of both worlds would be their 250th anniversary stout served from a tap. Not sure if they will have it at festival this year because it ends in September. If you have yet to try the 250th find a bar with it quick because you don't want to miss out.

Celis white is an amazing beer. Michigan brewing company makes it and every time I pick up brewing supplies from them I must have a pint. What surprises me it that it is a wheat beer, something I don't normally drink, but what they added to that brew makes it taste amazing. They have some nice beer there and whats cool is when they have the beer tasting which a lot comes from local micro-breweries, best time to find a new beer.

Also I found that Bar in the new map posted it must be Evan's bar I'm not going crazy after all (well maybe a little)

I sell it at my bar.  I love it. :)  I think I ordered an extra case for backup ( even though nobody orders it, but I drink it. ).

What makes that brand of wheat ale so good is that they add orange peel and coriander to it. Most other wheat ale producers don't. And this is also known as a Belgian Wheat Ale, since that's how the Belgians have been brewing it since the middle ages. Yes, Guinness Extra Stout is the first style I tried in the Guinness flavors and it will always be my favorite. Believe it or not, most of the extra stout we receive is made in Canada. Pick-up a case and read it. I was sort of mad since I thought it all came from Ireland, but I figured at some point the Irish come over with their fine recipe and brewed some over in Canada and they stayed, so it's still Guinness, just not from Ireland. At the most at least it doesn't say imported from Ireland on the label, that would really be bad then find out it's made in Canada.

We use orange peels and other spices in our meads. The orange peels can create some crazy boil overs!

I could only imagine. But hey my friend is going to get me some honey for your aunts bee farm and I'm going to attempt mead so I may be coming to you for some advice since it seems you have done it before.

Jon Foster

Let me know when you are ready! If I can't help, I know plenty of mead people that can help too.
