I finished up my working class garb

As Maggie said, its easy to go gaga over upper class with all the bling. This is where my eye now travels. I adore drooling over outifts that look like they stepped from a painting of the time. Well done, lass, well done.

Katie Bookwench

For lower and middles, the bling is all in the tailoring, and how the outfit is put together.

Century, that is fantastic -- The lines are clean, the fit is perfect! Awesome Job! Even the coif suits you, and is lovely!

And to Marietta, our resident rock star - ROCK ON!  That lime green is fantastic! Simple but knockout color combo! Kudos on your outfit, and BRAVO for your hat!

I mean, it's kind of difficult NOT to produce a head turner with fine, rich fabrics and flashy trim, but when you can get a round of applause for a simple gown in linen or cotton, then you know you've got some mad skillz!

Oh my!   I agree with all the ladies...These projectes are great!

CenturiesSewing that whole ensemble is amazing.   You should be so proud on every level of craftsmanship!   You may see the oopses, but you look just like you fell through the time machine!  Bravo!

I  have to say that while I do love all the gliz and bling, this is my favourite one so far this year.  It just looks so real.

Here's a couple of new ones from this past weekend.  The blue doublet and kirtle were last seen on a dressing dummy in the 'in progress' thread - I am pleased with how they turned out.  The black velveteen doublet I see as becoming one of my most versatile pieces.  Oh how I love mix n' match!

Don Giovanni de' Medici

I finished up my working class garb which has been hanging around in various incarnations over the years, it is all cotton as linen is just not in the cards right now.

I gotta say i am very impressed.  I enjoy seeing a proper representation of the middle/merchant class.  Too often faires tend to not properly costume or be able to represent this class and all you see is peasants and nobles.  This is beautiful work and I wish I would see more "Masters" and their families at along with the Lords and Ladies of Court and, well those other people...(*waves hand*).  J/k, sorry slipped into character a bit, LOL!

Oh geez Margaret.  Now you've gone and done it.
I was all set to make the blue sleeves for my bodice but you had to show up in that beautiful black doublet and comment on how versatile it was going to be.  Now I'm rethinking-again-about my color choice.   Not sure if I want to hug you or give you a right good swat.  ;) ;D
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

Syrilla

Well done Margaret!  Middle class is so hard to find at faires, and you showed it beautifully!

Thanks MG and Syrilla, I appreciate the compliments.

And, I do agree.  There are a ton of pesants and Lords and Ladies.  Middle class is sadly overlooked.

It is done!  That freaking doublet "thingy" that took me FOREVER to make for a friend..for free (never again) and it is done!!!  I still have the pants and hat to do, but those are the easy parts!

I'm really glad how this turned out because 1-I used a pattern (and we all know I hate patterns) 2-I lost the instruction sheet to said pattern and hand to wing a couple of parts 3-I hand stitched the clasps and the hook and eyes on! (another thing I hate doing-hand stitching!)

Here it is

the front :)  the sleeves are detachable *cue-oooohhhhh and ahhhs*

the back

the matching pouch!

the inside of the pouch-it has two pockets!

Thank you, Margaret!  You've just helped me decide that my in-progress middle class *does*, in fact, need a bumroll.

Lovely work!
