I also took some of my remnants and made a coat.  I knew my remnant obsession would come in handy some day! ;)
It has the ties for sleeves I haven't made yet.  Trying to figure out which remnant goes best!

Natasha, that's GLORIOUS!!!  I absolutely love the cream color to death. Do you know how much trim you used on the bodice and skirts? I want to use that same configuration but the pattern doesn't give yardage for trim.

And also, we would like closeups.  ;D

Those are both stunning.  Yum!  I haz a gown and coat envy!

The use of the remnants is particularly imaginative and fun.

I bought the entire spool (buy by the yard) and I think it had ten yards left.  It's down the front of the skirt, on the bodice, around the shoulder rolls, and the hat brim.  I had about 6" left!  At the recent Hancock's sales I bought the same spool again.  I love the trim and wanted to make sure I had plenty to add to the dress and for other stuff.  It's not cheap so I only buy it on sale or with a coupon.
I'll see if I can take some shots tonight. ;)
Oh, and this is all remnants as well!  (If you can believe that 6+ yards is a remnant!) ;D

So the last time I posted about my noble garb was in the "in progress" thread and it was August 19, 2009!  BUT, I am finally finished!  YAY!! ;D
I think I will go back and redo the pleats on the skirt but it is totally wearable as is.  I have a few other tweaks here and there but I really love it.  The sleeves are reversible to the same green as the forepart.

woo hoo

I need to join the fan club too, Dinobabe. Those are GORGEOUS!

Here is my "almost" first sewing by myself. (My bloomers a while ago, I started but messed up & my sewing friend finished them).  I say "almost," because I wanted a semi-Italian dress, the coolest thing I could find, because I am finding I can't take the heat anymore, and Bristol gets really hot.

I bought Mccall's 5647.  I didn't use the ruffle around the top or the attached sleeves.  I explained what I wanted to Jeanne (my sewing friend), and she tweaked the pattern so that it opened down the sides.  Then she sat next to me and told me how to lay it out, cut it, and sew it.  She walked me through it but I did it all myself.

After it was sewn, I sent it off to the shoemakers to have 3 sets of grommets under each arm, going down to the seam in the front.  Yes, there are darts in the bust, no, the stitching is a little wobbly in places, but I worked darn hard on it, and I'm happy with the result!

The weather here has been muggy and awful, like breathing in a sauna, so this Sunday when we went to Bristol, I decided to wear it.  I had planned to wear it with a long chemise with bloomers underneath, but it was so hot, I said forget the long chemise.  I wore a hip length chemise with my long bloomers, and I couldn't care one fig if the bloomers showed when I walked from the side (which I'm sure they did).
