The finished garb is absolutely outstanding Kit. I can honestly say I've never seen a forester's garb done better.

That looks terrific! Is the vest all suede?

The brown portion on the jacket is suede (as are the pants, boots, and top of the gauntlets), but the cream/beige portions are from a large leather coat. The sleeves are a velour-esque fabric. I've got some behind-the-scenes photos over here...

That came out wonderfully. I'd missed your earlier thread, but I really enjoyed reading through it now to see it as it came together. Really well thought out design. :)

Auryn

That is beyond awesome.
I love the last shot of you crouching in the snow- brilliant.
The whole thing came out great.

The Pre-Raphaelite project is finished. I only have pics of the bodice right now, because I need some advice. I've never done an unboned bodice before. Is it supposed to wrinkle in the back, like you can see in these pics? Or should I attempt to somehow add boning to the finished project?

Lovely!!

Ok, the wrinkling... that wrinkling in the small of your back is an indication that the back is a little too long. You might also need an alteration called a "swayback adjustment," which basically means that your back curves inward more than the pattern designer intended, and that the pattern is too long in the back for you. There is a very long thread on swayback adjustments on Pattern Review, but a Google search should bring up directions for a couple of simple fixes. Pinching out some length might be a good start; also there are variations of darts that can help, etc. Once you get your dress form fitted out with the FF fitting system, it will be easier for you to fit your back. I routinely cut my bodice patterns too long in the back and usually just lop off at the hemline, which isn't the "correct" way to do it, but for the styles I've made so far, it's been fine. If you really hate the wrinkles, you could probably carefully remove some of the trim and shorten the back by an inch (?) or so...

Honestly, though, for the pseudo-medieval style you have going, the wrinkles are going to be just fine (unless they drive you bonkers). The bliaut gowns of the period frequently had wrinkles (we might call it ruching) all along the waistline (front & back), deliberately. So you're totally period! Hee!

This piece counts as a "finished project" because I'm planning the ensemble as I go along, since I only get to shop my stash for the next few months.

I had fun with woodburning and the busk, I just hope the internet's Latin is correct.

That looks so wonderful! And I absolutely love the color. Based on yours and Gem's, I'm thinking I might have to try this pattern...

Alisoun, that is GORGEOUS!!!  (Love this pattern so, so much--I'm on my third one!!)

Well done! The colors work so well.

I have the same SIMPLICITY pattern I am going to use for a reversible Corset/Bodice for a client this year.

Very lovely. I might have to get off my rear and make this pattern. It's been sitting in my stash for some time now.
