I am still fairly new to the boards and have read this section quiet often, and can feel all the support everyone here has passed to others.

Tomorrow I am having a surgery to remove a quartersize stone lodged in the middle kidney.  I have had other procedures to remove stones in the past but this one is very different.  Its called PNL (I wont go into details lol) and am very nervous about it and the length of time it will take for me to recover.

If I could so humbly ask for a few prayers and thoughts to make it through I would be most grateful.

Thanks...
Gens~

Genievea, I'll be keeping you in my prayers, and sending healing thoughts and energy your way, for a textbook procedure and rapid recovery time.  Please check in with us to let everyone know how you're feeling, ok?

I wish I had seen this post earlier.
I hope all has gone will with the surgery.
Prayers for a speedy recovery and a Big gentle hug to feel better. Please keep us posted on your recovery.

Thanks for the prayers.  The surgery went well.  They removed a kidney stone that was about 3cm big, roughly a little smaller than a chicken egg. Needless to say, I was shocked and so was the Dr.  LOL  It wasn't that big when I went in for my pre op scan two weeks prior.  I did have a rough recovery...I was done with my surgery at 11 am, however I was moved out of recovery back into Holding, where everyone goes before they go into OR.  So there were people and families coming and going, very little privacy, and very loud. The nurses would walk by and one would leave the curtain open, another would close it, back and forth. So trying to recover in there was pretty much not going to happen.  I ended up waiting in there for almost 7 hrs before my room was ready.  My Dr even went looking for me in the room I was suppose to be in and wasn't too happy when he found me still in Holding.

Then about 9 30 I was running 103 fever. I would nod off thinking I was sleeping, wake up to take a sip of water, only to realize that 5 minutes had passed.  This went on most of the night.  I had a nurse that couldn't draw blood to save her life.  I have bruises on both arms from where she was digging in my veins.  Thankfully the little assistant came in and told the nurse she was needed someplace else, and the first try she got all the blood she needed. About 3 am I was finally given something to bring my fever down and in the process I asked if I could get out of the bed for a few minutes, so the nurse helped me out set me in the chair...where after 45 minutes and frustrated tears I realized she wasn't coming back I some how managed to get myself back in bed, the assistant had come back in horrified to see me doing this, so I told her what had happened.  Needless to say, I did not see that nurse again that night.

Friday was much better except for the fact that I still couldn't sleep and the fever was lower but still lingering so I wasn't released as planned.  My youngest daughter thought it was her fault for giving me the fever (she had one a few days before my surgery) so everytime we talked she started to cry. Poor kid was a mess.  Fever finally broke about 2 Friday afternoon,  and I was soo nervous that I was going to get the same nurse I had the night before. But someone heard my prayers and I had a wonderful nurse that night who had one of those touches that instantly relaxes you. She gave me something to help me sleep and managed to schedule my vitals far enough apart that I was at least able to sleep (although I did wake a few times) for about 5 hrs and managed to keep my fever at bay..

So Saturday I had to wait until 2 (24 hrs no fever) before I could be released.  So aside from that rough patch from recover til Friday night, things are much better.  I will be out for about 3 weeks as I have realized that the Doc wasn't kidding that I would tire very quickly...so as tired as I am why am I still up at 230am???  It must be all the garb making possibilities running through my head hehehe

I'm so glad you're on the road to recovery, and that things went relatively smoothly, or at least you had no serious complications (although the nurse sounds like quite a complication all by herself!!!)!  I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers during your healing process, and sending comfort and rest your way...  Take care, and don't get all caught up in garb making until you've got a bit more of your strength back!!!  That's what the drawing pad and pencils are for... planning.  Construction can come later...  LOL
