Looking for a good home for a wolf hybrid

Since there are restrictions and he's not papered, if asked, he is a Shepherd/Husky mix, but truthfully he's 50% timber wolf, with Husky and a little Shepherd making up the other 50%.

Meet Connor-


He is very loving, VERY social (in fact, he has issues with pack-separation anxiety), more active than a hyperactive ferret on meth, and loves to run, play, dig, swim, and climb. These are virtues for an outdoor canine on property, alas, we live in a townhouse with no yard. We hate to part with him, as he is such a sweet lad, but unfortunately I may be going overseas for a while, and if not will still be working long hours, and my wife is pregnant and cannot handle him alone. So, we need to find a good home for him.

He is fixed, and is not aggressive at all (beyond play), but he is energetic as hell. The best environment for him would be a ranch or a farm where he has other dogs to run with and livestock to play with (he loves to play with Mark's horses), but any large-ish yard with enough attention will work. He is house trained (trust me, you WILL know when he wants out, if he doesn't knock the door down in his exuberance himself), but gets very distressed and bark-howls when separated from his "pack", even through kennel-cage walls. Laying out the reality of Connor so that no one jumps in and says "Oooh! Hybrid wolf!" without realizing the social dynamics involved. If you have other dogs, he will figure out his place in the pecking order pretty quickly (one or two tussles and it's settled), but after that he will not want to be parted from them. Likewise, he thinks he's a lap-dog, and will want to curl up on you on the couch. He's very affectionate and loving, so he's worth it if you can handle him

Darn, Chris and I would have LOVED to take him but we already have our three huge doggies.

Chris did want a 50% timber wolf when we were looking for a dog. But we have out 100% rottie, and two great pyrenees/border collie mixes. Each weighing about 90 pounds.

I wish I could, but alas I live in a big city condo and he would be miserable here.  I will thow in that if he is anything like the half wolf that my mom had he is probably very loving and gentle with his pack, but very protective of them too. Mom's wolf adopted the whole neighborhood; cattle, horses, kids and all as his pack. For some reason crime came to an end in the area.

I have talked to Singed...and I am talking to the ones here at home who I need to talk to...I really want Conner, but I have to make sure he would be here for good, I would hate for the poor dear to have to change homes again. But as soon as I know I will let ya'll know!

I live in the country...and we do have a problem with coyotes.....do you have any idea how he would react...

I have a wolf-hybrid too (and three other four-legged orphans) and can attest to their intelligence. Sometimes they can be too smart. He's not pack oriented as Conner is. He is deadly defensive (and I do mean deadly) of his compadres which includes a cat.

Coyotes are a problem for any domestic animal, however I doubt Conner would have any more or fewer issues than most country dogs.

I was about to ask if we were related, all you have to do is add a mule and donkey to match my dad and step mom's menagerie.  With that many, you may be unemployed but you certainly have a job.

He is scary smart, with occasional brain farts like forgetting which way to go back around a tree after he has wrapped his lease around it.  He seems to adore cats, unfortunately our alpha cat (who we got from Breandan and Tiff) does not return his affection, it took weeks for all of the fur to grow back on his snout after their introduction.  Nose in mean kitty's tummy = pencil in pencil sharpener.

Has he had any "formal" training/socializing (Even a PETCO class works for socialization)

alas for tiny tiny postage stamp yards- it wouldnt be fair to him... but I'm sure our herd of cats would love him!

He's had the first two courses of shots and basic training for obedience, but is so bloody smart that he's constantly finding loopholes. You have to treat him less like a dog and more like a giant four year old without thumbs that can climb
