I want them all, Syrilla!  Sadly, the purse is completely empty.  But I can dream.  Someday. . . . .

I finally decided on trim! The boyfriend's favourite colour is purple, and I'm not going for historical accuracy with this, so I figured I'd use purple braid.

For some reason, purple braid is IMPOSSIBLE to find. But I did find wide gimp in "raisin." Lucky me, it cost only 85 cents per metre. I bought 5.

A double line of the raisin braid and a bit of stash diving later...

Okay, that's just my test piece to see how the stitches lined up and to practice sewing the gold braid, but isn't it PRETTY? I've never sewn trim on anything before except for lace edging. By the end of the weekend I should have it all sewn on. Woo!

Looking good.  Cant wait to see how it turns out.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

I really like the color conbination and the different braid pattern really makes the gold stand out.

Update on the Green doublet gown (Sorry! Quite a few pics) - Been working on the bodice mostly Friday after work, and here's what I've gotten so far. I need to hem it, add the shoulder and waist treatments, the collar, and some more trim. But! Not bad for staying up on a Friday night while your bf's overseas. LOL!

The front so far - still need to add trim and what not...

I was not planning on positioning the trims like this but I *love* it!

The trim I'm going to put over the front seams.

The trims all together

CapnFaye, I love the way you mix trims.  That is a skill I have not figured out yet.
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

A gown ensemble style  I am working on for Aernn Cigfrin.

The main Fabric is a Tarnsihed Gold Embroidered Dupioni Silk I found at SR Harris for a Pirate's ransom, but so WORTH it!!!

The Contrast fabric is Belvedere from Hancock Fabrics.. http://www.hancockfabrics.com/Belvedere-Decorator-Fabric-in-Choclate-Front-Page_stcVVproductId48183851VVcatId537258VVviewprod.htm

The Contrast will be for the forepart of the Underskirt, inisde poofs for the sleeves, as well as a set of the undersleeve that will snap together from the inside of the bottom sleeve band. I will make a second set of bottom sleeves from the silk for another look. There will be embellishments on the bodice that will set it off nicely.

The trim is a Scrolled gold on Black that I ordered from Pillaged Village. Photos are forthcoming, as I am recharging the camera battery.

Hehe that's because I can never find ONE trim I'm happy with! After I found M&J Trimming, it was all over... :)

Almost finished slops

Left Sleeve - you probably can't see the slashing in this photo.

I tried to show the slashing in this one; but photo color came out odd. This is all very dark blue.

I am so incredibly excited! The boyfriend doublet is almost done!

Please excuse the fact that I'm using a desk chair as a dress dummy- it just looks weird lying flat on the ground.

I'm so happy with the way the trim turned out- I didn't mean for it to line up with the back seams, it was just a happy accident.

Now, I've just got to put in the lining (I have never lined anything before) and set the grommets.. That can be next weekend's project.
