I've never bought into global warming either. Although, I've strangely missed hearing a particular Nobel Prize recipient lately....where is that idiot when he's needed most!!?? Still haven't seen the movie, either...hmm, pointless now I suppose.

That Pez-head is off counting his millions...   rousting more corporations through blackmail very much like a couple of so called religious leaders do using racism.

Global warming, global wetness (back with Noah) and now global cooling,  and then don't forget the planets are all supposedly going align in December of 2012 too

Guess I'll go and see if I can find a sale on bulldozers

There is a line in only of my favorite old 1950's chessy science fiction movies (When World Collide) about predicting the end of the world becoming an annuak event.

Lets see we had in the 1930's Things to come that predicted the next world war would be so bad with posion gas it would be the end of cilivation.  Pretty good movie really bad prediction.

Of course in the 1950's we had all the movies about nuclear war and mutation cause by nuclear testing.  Giant ants, giant turtles, giant people etc.  some pretty good movies some really bad movies all really bad predictions.

Then in the 1960's it was over population everything running out,  people living on top of each other. couple of good movies

Then in the 1970's it was the coming of the next ice age not many good movies but still bad prediction

Then the 1980's it was nuclear, bio, chemical war turn again. One or two good movies lots and lots of bad ones still more bad prediction

Then in the 1990's we had the start of the global warming along with Y2K.  Remember Y2K all the computers crashing nuclear power plants exploding, planes falling out of the sky, all money disapearing from the banks, all the criminals released from prison when the doors open?   All the movies were bad the predictions were still bad and getting worst.

My prediction someone will come up with new prediction which they will use to con millions out of people.  They will make movies about it couple good mostly bad, the prediction will still be bad and then someone will start the whole thing all over again.

2012 seems to be the new Y2K end of the world fun.

The preferred term these days is "climatic change," and I think we can all pretty much agree that that appears to be happening.  It seems as though it's both hotter and colder in their respective seasons, which actually is what has the people which were being referred to earlier worried.  Just to throw out an alternative perspective to the previous posts herein.

I read an interesting thought from someone about how if word went out that we ought to "save ourselves" rather than "save the planet," it might make people actually decide to make better choices. After all, the planet couldn't care less if we live on it or not, but most people really want to survive.

Someone once said climate is what you want weather is what you really get.  Given the past huge swings in temperture its hard to see were humans are the cause of any present swing.

History channel (national geographic? not sure which) on how Krakatoa might have tiggered the little ice age and Mount Tambora been the cause the year without summer in 1816.  Both of those put out more dust and gas than the human race would in three hundred years, more than if all the nuclear bombs went off at once.

I enjoyed the TV docudrama about Yellow stone going off and what effect it would have on the US and the worlds climate.  Good acting and a nice end of the world theory.

Actually- the sun rotates on its axis, but sections rotate at different rates due to the fact that it is a large ball of gas. The central part rotates in less than a month, so you won't have to wait six months!

My apologies, to those who are offended, for bringing science into it...
