Wow! Lady Catherine and Wayward Wench, very lovely! Actually, I should not be so stingy with my compliments - I've seen so many beautiful things on this forum, so much talent, and everyone here is such a great inspiration to me. I'm very much a baby at this, and I'm combatting depression over the end of my faire season (our last day was yesterday) by visiting here and feasting my eyes on all the pretty pretty things. Thanks to you all for sharing your projects, techniques, tips, tears and triumphs, and keeping the spirit of the faire alive in such a cool way. You all rock!

Oh My!!!! It's hidious.... hidious I tell you.... don't ever, ever wear it.
I'm such a good friend that I'll take it off your hands..... yup, I'll sacrifice for you, my friend, never fear.

You are not fooling anyone you know!!  Were not you the one who wanted my arm cut off so you could have my sleeves?!  I think I distintly remember that one.

And Adriana, the fabric actually made it easier to pleat like that.

Catherine - that gown is so pretty!  The fit is dead on - that's what really makes that gown.

Dang! I thought it *might* work. (and cows *might*fly)

You still have those arms and the sleeves that should be mine. Your head is still attached to your neck and you still have the necklace I covet.

Fine! Fine! FINE!
I totally covet your wardrobe. If I could fit in it I'd steal it all..... however I will just appreciate it as you wear it.

(until your back is turned and you are distracted by the pretty eye candy, then I'll strke and tear it off your limbs. I'll apologize now for the physical harm that is bound to befall you in the attempt..... drat.... did my outloud voice just emerge?)

Ya know I luvs ya
Hugs and pompoms, m'dear.

Lady Catherine, I love it!  I'm really into elegant simplicity like how you've designed your dress.  Bravo!

I love your gown Lady Catherine, the fit is perfect. And the pleats on that skirt Margaret are amazing.
I just finished up my first attempt at a stomacher. I'm trying not to think of how many hours I spent on the beading, lets just say it was a lot. I double back stitched each garnet and freshwater pearl and knotted it every 2-3 gems/pearls, plus did two layers of woven cotton interfacing to make sure they're never coming out. Added a layer of duck with two long strips of boning, and a layer of cotton twill for lining. The piping is made out of the same cotton velveteen that I made the bloomers from. I think I'm going to tie it on with silk ribbon, but I need to order some more from M&J. I made the sleeve dangles detachable, since its a fairly neutral bodice someone could just swap out a different color stomacher/dangles for a different color scheme.

Sometimes an outfit just shouts to be done a certain way, or the character that will wear it demands certain shortcuts not be taken, that is the case in this kirtle. The "village goodwyfe, Mistress Nellie Sutton" demanded it have selfmade trims, hand bound eyelets rather than grommets, and hand pleated cartridge pleats rather than drapery tape.

In progress and wearable, though not done as yet, a kirtle of linen/cotton in oatmeal with all over embroidery, piped in olive raw silk and guarded in greens of suede(ultra) and silk. The eyelets and cartridge pleating were both done by hand. It gets another band of silk guard, a corded petticoat and reversible sleeves
