Kate XXXXXX

Oh, very smart, Lady K.  AND pretty!  Nice fabrics and trim.  Got any spare?   ;)

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

I might have a little left over when all is said and done, Kate!!! ;)

The Damask fabric came from www.wharehousefabricsinc.com called Arabia. The color is Bay Leaf. The contrast fabric is a Hunter Green Velveteen.

The trim is FRAMES in 1 1/14" wide from www.pillagedvillage.com This is my favorite trim of all that I have used for garb!!!

Thank you all!!!

just beautiful!

I just had a busy week of altering Prom and Bridewsmaids dresses. Tis that season. Now I can get the bodice and the outer Doublet cut out.

Progress on the Unfinished Bodice. I ended up underlining the Damask for more body with Cotton Broadcloth. The trim doubled and beaded like the skirts. More tomorrow. All of a sudden, I am very tired and will be going to bed soon.

There will be tabs at the shoulders and about the waistline.

Oh that is going to be just lovely!!!
Two more questions about the dress Lady Kathleen?
Where did you get the green velveteen?  And how many yards of trim do you go through?  8-10??

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Being that there is a Doublet that goes with this gown, I will go through more than 15 yards of trim and close to 1,500 4mm pearls. There are tabs yet to make, trim, and pearl. I have the double layer of heavy Cotton Cancas Duck for the underlining of the Bodice together. Then a lining layer of a Quilter's broadcloth. 5 layers in all for the Bodice. There is enough body, the Bodice will not need any boning at all.

The Hunter Green Velveteen I was lucky to find at my local Mill End outlet. I bought 5 yards of that. 10 yards of the Damask.

Here is a pic of the bodice to a Venetian dress I have been fiddling with between everything else I'm working on.  It has a long way to go.  But I'm happy with it how it's coming along.  I swear it's not THAT pink in person.  Allthough....it is pink.  Thinking of making it an open skirt with little matching bloomers or something under it.  Scandalous!!  lol

LadyElizabeth

I love how pink it is actually, very princess and fairytale looking I think...  In fact, I like this white and pink venitian more than any other venitian I've seen!!  Congrats on the color combo and the pretty flowy sleeves.

More on the Bodice.... Sorry again about the darkness of the photos. Damn camera flash.

Just pinned in the back of the Bodoce. My dress form is short through the torsos. The top edge will fit where it should on Lady DeLaney.

The bottom of the Bodice. Detailing the tabs, trims, and pearls. I sewed in Bias Tape that I am going to secure down. I have the shoulder tabs yet to do, then get the lining attached.

There are 2 layers of sturdy Cotton Canvas Duck underlining the bodice. The Bodice will be plenty sturdy with the corset underneath.

Almost done - Need to sew trim on, make foresleeves, hem it, sew the forepanel onto something, etc etc.

I just had to take some pictures =)   (ps I did not make the partlet)

The color is actually champagne/eggplant changeable taffeta with eggplant (DARK purple) accent fabric - the purple is *not* rose/red, and while the photos are good, the color is wrong.

I used 250lb extra heavy duty cable ties in the bodice and they are so super awesome; I'm never using metal again!!!

I added additional boning beyond what the pattern specified, and in hindsight, I should have added an additional layer between the boning and the taffeta to prevent show-through, but it's not as bad in person as it looks in the photos.

Beautiful! I like the colors and the trim.

LadyShadow

Very beautiful.  Cant wait to see both finished projects.

I'm not fat, it's just that a skinny body couldn't hold ALL THIS PERSONALITY! ;)
