So I take it the camp grounds fill up fast? Kinda makes sense if they're trying to expand.....

Herc, you'd just have to see the size of the piece of land... it's actually quite big.  some of the old timers could tell you how many acres better than i.

My $.02...

Keep a dry set of 'danes, shoes, sheets and pillow in your car.  Being wet is no fun.  And if the worst should happen, you will still have dry clothes to drive home in.

This may not be so much for a first timer, but it is something to think about.  If you can find a way to get your air mattress off the ground, go for it.  Not only does it keep the cold ground from sucking the heat out of you in November, but it's so nice to be able to sit on the edge of your bed for the first few minutes in the morning as you wake up.

as well as keeping any ground moisture from your bed! There's nothing that gets you colder and more miserable then having to sleep in cold, damp bedding!!

And if you are going to have a fire pit, keep a fire extinguisher handy... I recommend two, since sober people have bad aim with those things, and inebriated amateur firefighters are more likely to reduce the bat population than hit the fire :D

When you say..."get there early".... when is "early"?

There are normally a few people ahead of me when I roll in on Thursday night.

Well, come out at noon like the rest of us front of the liners.

And dont forget finishing all those little sewing emergencies that arent QUITE done on your garb, etc!

Or at least that's me... i remember a couple of years ago sitting in the Gnome camp at 2AM drinking Loki and furiously finishing a certain rogue's fancypants to wear the next day!

Did he take 'em off first?!  :D

Based on this and the other thread concerning campers. Ya'll pretty much have me convinced to rent a camper and stay the full weekend. Afterall I can't do Scarborough in one day so ain't no way I could do TRF in one day.

Oh it's never been that hard for me to convince Mitchell to take off his pants!

It's the KILT that's the problem!!!

and yes, you will have MUCH more fun if you stay all weekend! Half the fun of TRF is the community party AFTER dark!

It's 53 acres inside the gate. You can walk the whole thing in a day but not if you're really trying to see anything. There are so many time-wasting vortexes installed that you will be forced to come back several times.
