I really like the one on the left too. Is it aluminum or pewter?

Jon.

Found this in my garage last weekend....

She rested in my hand for a while, and flew away.
What kind of bird was that that you found in your garage if you don't mind me asking?

I'm no bird expert, but it looks like a hummingbird to me, I've just never seen one not moving!

Yepper.

She got stuck and couldn't find her way out.

Wore herself out trying to escape and collapsed in my hand when I picked her up, poor dear.

It was like a little gift from nature to be able to hang with her a bit.

Nope..sat in my hand, waited until I made some sugar water, drank it, and flew away.

We're a full service rest stop, apparently.

I believe it's made out of pewter, I'm not at home right now, but it was made in germany and I believe it was a limited run, I actually bought it at the amana colonies wine house in IA.  I used to live near there (for a brief period) and always had my eye on that mug, every year we went to amana to look around.  I finally said, if it's there just before we move (in 2007), I'll buy it.  And it was still there.  It hadn't moved in price or position for 5 yrs!

The artwork on it is the biggest reason why it's my favorite as well.  I'll try to post more detailed pics of it tonight.

Thanks for the comments Tipsy Gypsy, lordwriothsley & Jon.

I like steins but there are so many out there that are so nice I'd get in trouble if I started buying them.  :(  I do have a few I made (ceramic) and one my brother brought home at the end of his tour in Germany.

I hear ya, I've been searching for ones that fit my taste.  I found one at epcot that was extremely cool, however the guy barely spoke english and said he wouldn't sell me the display (all they had :( ).

Ok, here's a few close ups.  I really need to get better at taking pics :)

ps..i have no idea what it's made off.  I can't read the bottom of it :)

Very cool stein.  Looks to be pewter, which is what many quality steins are made from.

Nice shot DB. I love that sky. Hopefully that storm wasn't to bad before it passed.
