Oh ladydiwinter I am such a fan of anything deep green!  That color is amazing.  You have done a great job.   Will you be wearing a girdle belt of some kind?  That would pop beautifully around that  green with something to accentuate the waistline.  Gold chain belts are pretty easy to find these days and you can decorate with jewels or a hanging tablet.  Maybe a twisted pearl strand?   Really nice!

Syrilla

Very pretty Ladydiwinter.  Jewel tones are so rich looking.

I'm thinking I might wait until the MNRF to get more jewelry for my outfit. I live in a small town where we don't have much, and since it's getting closer to the fair I don't want to order something and not get it here in time. I'm also thinking of ideas for my hair, I can't decide if I want to wear a type of hat, snood, or french hood. Also, can anyone tell me where my outfit falls in the class system? I just found a few patterns that I liked and put them together, so I'm not sure where I fall if anywhere. Of course not trying to be HA, but I don't want to dress like a peasant and get all the bling of a Noble.

Here is my first project.... and the fan to go with it!  :D

and any suggestions on head dress and jewelry would be cool too! thanx

I would suggest a snood and perhaps later add a small matching hat simply because this dress is a little ambiguous as to social ranking.
But usually any honest woman covered their hair at least somewhat. (broad generalization alert)

Dinobabe

So I have been working on redoing the bodice in my avatar.  I am completely finished (yay!) except for new sleeves, another forepart, and stiching down the shoulder straps after a final fitting.  My delima here in lies the trim.  I have a great trim, already on the bodice, but since this is a redo of a several years old outfit the trim on it I no longer have.  The skirt still has the old trim used as ties for the overskirt.  I have added the new trim down the front of the overskirt.  Should I keep the old trim as the ties or replace it with the new?  The old trim is gold and green, the new trim is gold, green, and blue.

So I put everything on and I have another delima.  The bodice doesn't quite fit right in the back.  My thought is to clip at the blue lines, pull in the direction of the red arrows, and stitch in place.  What do you think?

Excuse the poor lacing, hubby had to do it!

For those of you wondering, here is the outfit so far.

Try letting the straps sitting farther out on your shoulders and see it that doesn't eliminate the wrinkles at the blue lines. I would wear the inside edge of the strap closer the wear the outside edge (seam between the strap and shoulder roll) is sitting in the photo.

I agree with Sealion....but I also think your shoulder straps are a little too long.
This has led you to pull them too far up on the shoulder and pulling the back out of wjack.
Try pinching up the shoulder straps before you do any cutting to see if that helps.

--by the way....I absoluetly adore the dress.

It also appears that the front back length might be just a tad long. The reason why there is a gap where it laces as well as it sits down the front. I know this might require taking apart the lining, eliminating a grommet set, and resetting the tabs, but I think you will be happier, Dinobabe, with the overall fit. I see many Bodices sitting at or slightly above the natural waistline so the tabs set nicely over the pleats of the overskirt.

I do concur about lifting the shoulder straps so that they sit more level on the shoulders.  That will eliminate the overlapping at the top.

Guinevere of Leonesse

We're having a special 1st birthday party meal with very dear friends in the castle at the Michigan Renaissance Festival on Saturday/Opening Day for my little girl, Lucy and I made her a gold silky birthday party dress and matching bloomers to go with it to join me, hubby and my other daughter Claire in blue and gold with a touch of purple for Claire. I haven't long finished the bloomers. :)

and Lucy trying it all on and being held up by daddy. She has her own gold sandals to match too. :)

The more you worry, the longer it will take.
