Sooooo not fair!!!  Speaking from a purely landlocked perspective, any chance at spending time under the influence of wind and water is not to be passed up, and by the looks of it, the only thing passed by were the buoys and other vessels!  Yar little ketch, there!  What, about 40ft? Gorgeous!!!

This fellow wandered into my backyard today while I was practicing archery (I stopped so I wouldn't shoot him :p). I tried to find his owner through the vet on his rabies tag with no success, so I had the animal control pick him up. I hope they find his family.

Manwariel, he looks like such a sweetie... but huge!!!  I hope he manages to get home!  Nice tongue shot, btw...  LOL

Dbaldock, what wonderful castle shots!!!  I'm envious of your visit to places I've always dreamed of going...  I love that even though all three edifices share structural similarities (i.e: battlements, turrets, etc...), they're all quite different styles of architecture, despite being from roughly the same general period.  Beautiful work!!!

(oh, and thanks for including the links... marvelous info there!!!)

Nice castles!

Thanks for the complements.  The thing that surprised me the most was how GREEN everything was at the end of September!   :o  We flew over from Dallas, TX, where everything is Dry and Brown and nearly Dead at that time of the year.   ;)  I took quite a few shots on the trip - 10 Rolls of 36 exposure film, but not too many of them are "posting" quality.

Another thing that was surprising, considering the time of the year that we were there, was that, while it was cloudy and overcast a fair amount, we only got rained on twice when we were out of the car sight seeing during a two week trip.

Most of the shots I'm posting here were taken with a Tokina AT-X 242, 24mm - 200mm Lens.  While it is an auto-focus lens, I was using it manually on my 1985 Nikon FE2 camera body, shooting Fuji Professional Color Film.  I also had a Tokina AT-X 100mm - 300mm Push-Pull Manual Focus Lens (can't find a link for this older lens), and Nikon 1.4x and 2x Tele-Converters with me.  When using the 300mm and 2x Tele-Converter, it was hard to hold everything still enough, even with my Mono-Pod.

I do own a Film Scanner, but these images were scanned by SPS Photo Imaging in McKinney, TX, when they processed the film for me.

Take Care,
David Baldock

EDIT: Added comment about the rain.

Wow... a wizard at a car show!!!  How cool is that?!?  I'm sure I'd take a pic of him if I saw him, also!

More gorgeous castles, and I'm more green with envy than those emerald isles!

So... if I admit to only owning a Nikon Coolpix 10mp, will I still be allowed to read this thread?  ???

It does have an attachment, though... a nifty wrist strap!  ::) :P

Don't worry that you haven't got a (D)SLR.  All of the pictures that I linked to in this post were shot with a Samsung L55W, 5 MP Point-n-Shoot.  They were shot outdoors last May 2nd at the Keels & Wheels Boat and Car show here in Seabrook, TX.

Just take a lot of pictures.  If you're shooting with enough light, and you can hold it still, you should get some good shots. (statistically speaking  ;) )

Take Care,
David Baldock

Thanks, and nice links!

I do happen to have a tripod, though (scavenged from my daughters $10 Tasco telescope), and my camera has more settings than I've even had the opportunity to explore yet, so I'm pretty ok with it, especially since my last camera smashed spectacularly when dropped by someone who was taking my picture at our local drum circle... and this one cost only a little more, for twice the camera!
