I saw the most  wonderful hat at MDRF last weekend.   The nice young woman wearing it said she got it at a fairy con.  After getting home, I found the website.  It really doesn't do the artwork justice, but the tophat was stunning.  This woman couldn't take three steps without someone asking her to stop so they could look at it.

Very cool hats! I wonder what they are made of since the copy says they "look like" leather and metal.

My hat and goggles from The Blonde Swan:

I made one slight modification to the goggles. They were plain black plastic (which I didn't realize when I ordered them since I was focused on the leather and filigree on the sides) so I drybrushed on some metallic glaze after a coat of Krylon Fusion to give the glaze something to stick to.

Ohhhh... how incredibly gorgeous!!!  Lucky, lucky woman!!!  I am more envious than I'm even comfortable with...  LOL  What vivid colors, and the goggles are outstanding!!!  I'm running out of adjectives that are descriptive enough to convey my most covetous admiration!!!!!!  :o (sigh)

It was the purchase of the hat and googles that made me take my Steampunk garbing project off the back burner and kick it into high gear! After hubby bought it for me I had to have something to wear it with. :giggle:

Always start w/your accessories - the ensemble will follow!  Gorgeous hat & goggles, Sealion - the colors are wonderful.

Sealion, those are awesome!  The filligree on the sides is VERY cool.

And guess what?

I found my goggles!   ;D  Going to pick them up from the store after work.  I was starting to think that not only would I not be able to find the kind of goggles I wanted, I wouldn't be able to find goggles PERIOD.  Then, I saw EXACTLY what I was looking for at the halloween store last night.  Officially licensed Harry Potter Quiditch Goggles.

I was thinking about trying to find them cheaper somewhere else, but they're less than $15 and thinking about it, any money I save in price is going to be out done by the time and gas spent running around looking for them, so I'm just going to go buy them.  They'll need a little bit of modification, but not much.  Mostly I need to hide the Harry Potter logo stuff.  I'm hoping I can get it done tonight, so that I can have before and after pics to share. :)

I agree that any savings would be eaten up by gas or shipping charges if you were to continue your search. $15 seems reasonable to me. Might you be able to sand off the HP logos?

Nah, no sanding necessary.

They've got snitch thingys on the sides of them.  Going to put a small gear-shaped washer around those and have a winged cog.  And the nose piece has an "H" on it.  Glue a piece of plasticard over it or fill in the depressions w/putty (I'll have to look at them closer to see which is the better option), then paint it and the rest of the silver part bronze and they're good to go.

Too many goggled people I think......???

I'm going as a Vamp/Escort sort of person.......hey at my age, I'll do almost anything for attention. LOL! Especially when I look a whole lot younger!
Being Blond means I have the right to walk into any wall.

Elennare, congrats on the find!  Goggles make the zeppelin pilot (sky pirate, sparky scientist, adventurer, explorer).  We must protect our eyes at the risk of mad fashion!

RR, that look, at least where SteamPunk is concerned, is mostly referred to as Lolita... and it's a really fun look to accessorize!  Can't wait to see what you put together!!!
