What happened to Martin?  :o  ???  :'( I have not heard anything. All I am getting is from this and i am so confused.

In the dark, Martin stepped on a beer bottle that had been left laying on the ground by some careless person. It rolled under his foot and he went crashing down, chin first into the edge of a steel plate. It left two bad gashes between his lower lip and chin. Two inches lower and he could have lost his life.

Did this happen in camp, or out and about?!?

The bottle was a stray in our camp. It's not that anyone was "careless", but these things just happen, especially when people are drinking around a fire. It could have just as easily have been a stick or a stump. Ok... so recap...

Get out to camp Thursday, rake and spread ant poison. Hear from hubby that the brakes have gone out on the car and that he's very carefully completing his journey to me. Realize that there are no real noms OR BEER, as the kitchen has yet to arrive, so go to sleep instead. Wake up at 6am to fend off intruders, and make a walkabout. Decide to start building the kitchen shelter. Look up at the sky at 9am, and haul butt to the tent. Spend the next hour braced up against the inside of the tent trying to keep the joints from snapping, still waiting for someone to come to camp. People start showing up, setting up, and we start drinking and having fun. Take Cat to the gate to meet up with Wine and Alchemy, and get an invite to come along. Go to dinner at the Magnolia Diner, thaw out, and get ready to have a great opening day. Get a call at midnight that tells me to come to the shop to do inventory. Get home to tent from inventory at 3am, wake up at 6am. Get ready, get food, go into the shop. Go to pick up my bracers, which I found out were NOT finished, and fell in love with the most awesome tail EVAR! Spend the day selling and walking parade. Get out by 9, head to camp for dinner and drinking. Head for showers at 11, then come back to camp to do more drinking and eating. Went on a walkabout with Cat, and went for a moonlight stroll with the Order of Culloden Moor. Went to bed, woke up at 7am. Ate bfast, got to the shop, opened up. Spent the day kinda wet, and really tired, but then was surprised that the people in my shop have gotten me the previously mentioned MOST AWESOME TAIL EVAR!!! Get out of the shop by 9, home by 10, dead asleep by 10:30.

What a damn weekend LOL, but memorable and fun!

I missed the meet-and-greet AND all the fun around campsite.  The three of us pretty much stayed local to our site, yelling at the teenagers walking THROUGH a heavily 'marked' (since we couldn't rope it off) campsite.  Do people not have a clue about campsite protocol, permission to enter or cross through, etc?  I felt like an old man, "Get off my damned lawn!"  Of course, rain didn't improve our spirits much, either.

Anyway...

I'll try to get back out for AHE, although I may have to come alone, and later Friday afternoon or evening.  At which point, I'll either request a land grab with McLotofus or camp in the quiet area.  :)

We had a good time regardless, and our Friday night version of Shepherd's Pie was phenomenal.  I'll have to keep that recipe in the ol' noggin for next time.  Pictures of the weekend from a trio of Scotsmen coming soon...

It ain't the years, it's the mileage.

I was...at my best friend's renaissance wedding in Jacksonville, but I did have a mini cannon i shot off saturday at gate opening time..and all the goblets of mead I drank, I drank in honour of all you mud-caked hellions. Sadly, I am not attending til last weekend, but that's what this forum is for...Oh, and I think I use this forum too much. I was at the wedding and I was remarking on some of your posts..I mentioned my handle, Mouse, some random person turns around and says, " You're Mouse?!" I said nothing and left....I was afraid Fraser sent him to get me.

The Hubby and I made it Friday afternoon, FINALLY!
Set up camp in the cool, AAWWSSOOMMM, and drizzly weather!
YES, PERFICT!
All done we settled in until the KIDS got there!!!
FOUR, COUNT THEM FOUR, YES FOUR, not only Fest VIRGINS but also CAMPING virgins!!!
Disclaimer all over 21.  Only 2 cases of chain mail whiplash, TA DA!!
All survived the weekend.

Now to all the Loves and Wonders that I met (I am not good with names and believe it or not to I am to shy to walk up to the meet and greet, you would not think this once we have met!)
You each and everyone made it a LIFE CHANGING EXPERIACNE!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
We now have new Rennie's, before Saturday parade I was told that this would be an ongoing tradition, HUZZA!!
The sights the sounds, each one of the kids bought Cast in Bronze Cd's.
Cloaks, shoes, soaps, hair spirals, food, mugs, steins, goblets, vests, shirts, skirts and leggings pretty much ran the gambit of booths and shops.
Iris and Rose, Ded Bob, Jousting, Pickle vender's and more, never have the Hubby and I done so much in just two days.
Hope to see y'all Thanksgiving Friday!

Take my hand and walk with me through life, or send me in the general direction, then point and laugh!

How was camping, other than being wet/muddy?

How was the new cleared off section by Row 0?  Were there a  lot of "ravers" out there?
We're not going to let out the secret!
The new area is wonderful. They left quite a few trees in place so it was still dripping when I pulled out at 13:30 today, but that's okay. No ravers were seen around our camp, to the point that we were the loudest camp in the area Saturday night when a wonderful couple of performers from Austin joined us for several hours. I think I can sum up the new area best just from an observation I made several times over the weekend. Even though the privies on our end were heavily used, they never were nasty.
But don't tell anyone we want to keep this our secret so it can stay as nice as it is.

Happened in camp. He's doing alright though, seemed alright yesterday as we were leaving camp, just a little marred up but still in good spirits.

I'm glad he's OK and hope he heals as quickly as possible.  Got to see MM and Midnight Ferret on Saturday and visit for a few minutes.

Thoroughly enjoyed Sunday...even though it was cold and wet. Met Master Dorian and got to babysit him a little while...he is so precious! Sorry to have missed the meet and greet, but had to go to Procrastination's camp for b/day cake for my little one's first b/day. Am hoping to make it one more time this year, though not sure if we will be able to swing it financially or if we can find a ride...lol

Trillium...though you were a wet fae all day, you still looked beautiful.

Bellevivre...sorry to have missed you at camp, I think I saw you at some point, but by the time it registered in my frazzled brain that I recognized you had moved on...story of my life...he he he

Was also glad to finally get to meet everyone else...hope to be able to see everyone again soon.

Lets see. . .  arrived at camp around Row 0 Thursday night and set up new habitrail *giggle* in dark.  No ventilation, slept in front seat of truck with my fave CD in the background and my lovely man cuddled up next to me.  After talking with a late coming Z til well after 3 in the morning, slept about 4 hours.

Woke up Friday to rain and muck, made a dash to the tent inside the faire walls to unpack and cover tables, unload inventory and quickly secure everything against the never ending wet and muck.  Drove back into Houston to run a couple of errands, procure last minute forgotten supplies, and pick up tent from Z's which ended up saving our life.  Got back to camp and set up the tent in the dark with the help of Teach and Mac and Kris.  Lots of hugs and shared laughs that night, as well as some fabulous cabbage and beef rolls!

Spent the day Saturday as new vendors.  A bit of a rush that morning getting last minute things done, but the day was a smashing success.  Dont think we had a lull of more than 10 minutes all weekend!   Huzzah!  Had more fun with my parents and D than Ive had in well. . . forever!  Turned a fair bit of profit, and headed back to grounds to change.  Had a lovely dinner prepared by the wondrous Z and then went on a very amusing clan walkabout in which my lovely D got to sing "Im a Little Teapot" to several clan leaders, while tweaking his nipples at at least one clan!  He has a new faire name now, Tweak- Lord of the Nipples.  Had an absolute blast Sat night with Cynth and Mike playing guitar and the lovely Elaine dancing, while Mac was on the drums.  Met and hugged and laughed and just had a blast with our new clan family.

Sunday was more wet and cold, ended up having to run to the dreaded Wal Mart for meds and some extra towels.  Had another great day hawking and playing with all the wonderful people at faire, and saw many faces I hadnt yet seen on the circuit around faire mom and I made that afternoon.  Back at camp we discovered our bedding and everything else was soaked, so we said phoooooey and headed to a hotel in Magnolia.  Warmest part of my whole weekend!

Couldnt have had a better time Opening weekend with our new business venture and our new clan family.  Cant wait to see everyone again for Pirates Weekend!

Got to camp around 10:00 Friday morning.  There's a road over the wash right where we usually set up so we moved across the road next to Thorn.  Got one tent and our new 10x20 canopy set up before the deluge came. That canopy is worth every penny!  Had a quiet night, went to faire, and am so happy it didn't rain again until Sunday, of course when we were trying to pack!

All in all, it was a really good weekend and wonderful to see old friends, meet new ones, and generally wallow in excess.....i.e., too much beer, vodka, rum, too many cigs, up to late, tons of laughing, hugs, and kisses, good stories.  The only thing I didn't get enough of was rest, but of course I can rest when I'm dead!
