Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Taffy!

When I do skirts that are Cartridge pleated, and they can get heavy, I use one layer of Cotton Canvas Duck as an interfacing. That gives a waistband structure as well as strength to hold the skirt in place for a long time.

Lady Kathleen, thank you.  For once I have some duck in my stash & will use that.  I think I'm also going to use some grosgrain ribbon at the top to hold the two pieces together.  I'll get some pictures posted later.

I saw the picture of the gold RQ overskirt and all I can say is *drool*.  I know there are going to be a lot of happy costumers - professional & amateur - singing hosannahs about this movie.  My favorite thing so far is the Hatter's spool bandolier - and bandaged fingers!

NicoleBridget, steampunk Alice was what I had in mind for my AiW ensemble!

The Alice cancan skirt interior - I don't know if you can tell, but the dark ruffle is the Teneille (sp?) mad tea party scene:

I've made headway on my Snow White gown!

I finished my farthingale last night!

I think i need to make the second hoop from the top smaller cuz it really stands out with the underskirt on over it

The underskirt is pinned into place cuz itll be on the same waistband as the overskirt...

This is all I have so far...I'm hoping to finish the overskirt tonight...then i'll hem the underskirt as well

oh! and heres a closeup of the fabric...

its some kind of satin (I always forget what its called) with a sheer organza with embroidery over it...the solid stuff wont show once ive got the overskirt on...

Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

Your hoop won't show if you make a petticoat big enough to wear over it.... go to the Salvation army and buy a big white ruffled bedskirt (of which there are probably plenty)...... cut it up and make it into a simple skirt with an elastic waistband - I make all my petticoats this way. Just make sure you make it full enough to go over the hoops. ;)

I got the over skirt done! I still need to hem both of the skirts and put some hook and eyes on the waist band but this it what it looks like!

and a better view of the fabric/ my first ever cartridge pleats

now that i'm single I'll have more time to work on this...I guess thats one good thing...*sigh*

Here is the Fantasy Forest gown so far.  The trim on the lower/upper sleeves is complete, though I still need to sew the trim on the upper band and add closures.  Trim on the waist is complete and right now only placed on the front opening of the skirt.  Still havent decided if I am going to use grommets on the bodice or  metal/fabric lacing rings.  If I have enough of the trim left over I am thinking I might carry it up onto the bodice.  Its looking a little plain.

It's simplicity2575. I cut the sleeves way way down. They are almost floor length on the pattern and from past experience with similar sleeves, that long they just get in the way and for the look I am wanting the shorter sleeve is much more manageable.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!  I am very happy with the way the colors faded out on the linen. It gives the whole piece a much more lived in feel.
