Awesome Steam, everyone!  Wish I was able to get out to more events, but right now I'm still trying to figure out how to get to Faire this season...  I find myself starting to run out of steam for projects, though, the closer it gets to moving time.  Just looking at my crafting area makes me dread the packing process, so starting anything new for AHE isn't happening right now.  Maybe in a few weeks, after we've settled into the new place a bit, I'll start feeling a bit more crafty again!  :)

Until then, I'll just check out all the Steamy goodness being shown off here!!!

Found some really great stuff today at Goodwill.  Skirt with an unfinished edge that I can layer, long black skirt that looks like it buttons up on the left leg side and 2 great pairs of black boots.
I'm trying to put together a Steampunk-inspired bellydance ensemble.  I think its missing a few things but I may do a 'test drive' on Saturday at Scarby.

Deckard And Zhora

So I'm excited to be jumping into the realm of SP and I'll be dragging my husband along (who has never worn garb) thanks to mieljolie and her man. We'll be making our debut at AHE weekend of TRF.

I have an idea in mind and have been keeping my eyes opened everywhere I am for SP opportunities and I came across some stuff that I though worked really well and is pretty cheap and easily accessible.

(Sorry if someone has already talked about this, but I didn't want to read through all 90+ posts at the moment)

But at Michael's they have a brand of beads/charms called Madame Delphine's that even says in the description, "With hints of Steampunk influences, Madame Delphine's™ is both elegant and edgy, making it versatile and inspiring."

Check it out!

Bonny... I just realized I never got to see your hat this weekend!!!  :(  OMGoodness, everyone was rushing around like mad, and you and I never did get a chance to really do more than say hi...  What craziness!  Fun, but not enough time to really talk to anyone!  Will you be back to Scarby this season at all?

It was crazy all weekend wasn't it! :)  No worries lol.

We are planning to be at Scarby on Memorial Weekend.  Are you and the renlet coming back down? :)

I'm hoping I can work out a way.  We have a place to stay if I can finagle gas money and tickets, and I'd really love to get back down there for Memorial weekend.  It would be wonderful to have more time to really enjoy the place, and to see the people who have already said they'll be back that weekend!  It's such an easy drive that it seems a shame to miss it, but I'll have to do some pretty creative juggling to be able to afford it... so we'll just have to wait and see.   :-\

Saw quite a few steamers yesterday @ Bats Day @ Disneyland that made me envious-they were all so cute! Sigh...
Why be mundane when you can be a Rennie?!

I've jumped back onto the Steampunk bandwagon and gotten excited about costuming again! (I am delaying investing money and effort into any new historically accurate Ren garb in the hopes of dropping a few pounds.) I love that there is no right or wrong in Steampunk and have been putting together some outfits with a combination of things on hand and some  purchases of vintage items.
World Steam Expo will be hubby's first foray into Steampunk so I have picked up a couple of waistcoats (high button with lapels) in black pinstripe and brown tweed, a bowler hat, and a vintage watch chain to wear with black denim pants and button shirts with rolled up sleeves. It think he will be more comfortable  that way than if I tried to get him to dress as a dandified Victorian gentleman. :)
As for myself I have a few things I put together last year plus I an adding two new outfits. The new additions are at opposite ends of the spectrum: Steampunk influenced bellydance garb and a proper Neo-Victorian suit  . I am having the dance bra constructed for me (you can't buy G-cup ready made) and plan to embellish it and the belt with pleated/ruffled organza trim, vintage buttons, pearls, & brass and copper cogs. I'll be layering black, brown, and ivory skirts with the top layer being made from a crocheted lace tablecloth. The suit is a ready-made purchase from ebay that I bought a size large and will have tailored.

(I purchased it in purple but use the red to show the back.)

Sealion, the suit is smashing and the belly dance costume sounds delish.  I'm glad you've jumped back on the bandwagon.

I'm thinking I'll put some pennies aside for one big steamy con next year.

Here's the tablecloth I am bidding on. :)

I'll just cut a hole in the middle, add a drawstring, and tea-dye it.
