Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Despite having 10 tubs of fabrics, labeled,  I went n out and bought even more the other day for commission projects coming up.  Gowns take a lot of fabric!! I need to order another 100 yards of White Symphony Broadcloth for Shirts and Chemises.

Is there a good place you order your broadcloth from in bulk?  Joann's kept giving me funny looks when I kept needing to buy 2 bolts of the cotton to make the pirate shirts and monks robes for some of my shows.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

I get my Broadcloth from my local JoAnn's.  They know me by name there because they know what I do and often ask what I am working on. I make sure I have a 40% to 50% off coupon because 100 yards of Broadcloth does add up!!

Most of the clerks know me too.  They always want to know what I'm up to.  I think I freak out more mundanes at the cutting counter  ;D

Long live Joann's 40 & 50%off coupons!  It turns the $70  a bolt cotton into $35+  :)

Hey All, yep I am in deep denial!

This is going to hurt and then be hilarious!  I am in the SCA, and I can fly for free.  With this said a lady in another kingdom (in So Cali) sent out that a store she knows had to go out of business and he sells   LINEN.  The sale was for $3.00 a yard and it is 60" wide.  So with my humongous luggage back (32 inches high and 30" wide) I set out yesterday to hunt down the wild Linen.

Firstly? My own carrier did not send the luggage, I have a torn rotator cuff with this said I can not carry anything on my right side.

So I picked up
6   Yards of Black
35 Yards of Handkerchief weight White Linen
5   Yards of Orange Med weight
5   Yards of Deep Green Med weight
Total  51 yards of Linen
Plus a bunch of buttons
All for $162.00

The Green and Orange I don't have in stash I want it for this Gown Which I already:

So the funny part or the ironic part:
My HUGE piece of luggage was not sent on the plane I was on!  So I have to purchase the linen without the support I need to move this crap back to the airport.

I got it at the airport  and load the luggage with my precious cargo was all set to fly with me back to SFO.....

Nope not at all!!!

Seems they put the wrong tape on and so my Luggage was not sent out until later in the day, I live 65 miles from my work so I am not going to waste 170 mile round trip just for my luggage I will pick it up on Monday when I work.

As soon as I get the stuff? I will post the fabrics so you all can see them...

I just started with making outfits for ren. Yes, I also have to much fabric, if there is even such a thing. I, also plan on going pattern shopping for Memorial Day. I will be moving this fall, so when that happens , I need to sort out my fabric. I love fabric . Old Mill textiles is awesome.
Life is what you make of it, so just have fun.

the sickest part of all this, i that i, too, am a holic...and i don't even sew!!!  Altho, I think I'm going to drag out the machine over the summer and try my hand at it.  I could make some adorable things for my dgd and then maybe work my way up to something i could wear in public someday . :)
I am such a holic that I have purchase no less than 3 separate sets of fabric for my wedding dress.  Which have now become 'dresses'.  Oy...and my FH is no help...he says 'if you love it and it's not too expensive and you will be happy, get it.'  So now...jeez.

God, I love that man.

My favorite is still Stash Accumilation Beyond Life Expectancy.

All the Walmarts around here, except one, have cut their craft sections. Cheap fabric withdrawls are in progress.

I have FIBs: Fabric In Boxes.  I also have PIGS: Projects In Grocery Sacks.  And I suffer from TMT: Too Much Thread!   ;D ;D ;D

LadyShadow

Kate I am so with you on FIBs, PIGS and TMT.  But I'd rather that than not have any.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Scary Stash Pix:  this is what it looked like a couple of years ago!  Since then it has grown.

Mostly fabric, but also things like coathangers:

Patterns:

(There are now 12 of those red boxes, one grey one the same size, and one shoe box...  )

And the thread stack:

And in one corner of the loft there is a hop basket with a dozen rolls of fabric stacked on end.

Oh, thank you for this thread! I started sewing again about 2 months ago and have only filled one stash bin. One. Uno. And today I was feeling *guilty* about toting home a lovely so-on-sale piece of brocade?! Clearly I need to get over myself. You pros are inspirations. Tee-hee!

There are about 56 of the larger boxes now.  Dunno how many of the smaller ones.  Plus even smaller boxes of lace, buttons, corset making supplies, ribbon, braid, and other delicate items...

Oddly, I can usually remember which box a particular bit of fabric is in - well, except for the six boxes of Polar Fleece!  And I once mislaid a ten meter piece of 60" wide striped cotton!
