Well this is the guy that I can't leavel alone in Joann's/Michael's/Hobby Lobby any more.  He either finds something for his next garb piece or finds something we need for the prop/costume tool box.

How can I manage to keep my stash down to manageable levels when he is inableing me like that?  ;D  10 yards of summer weight wool to make him a new suit,  not that I have a problem with that but it would be next year before I get to it.  Besides isn't this the guy that said "No starting new projects until you finish 2 UFO's." ? ???

Amazing work Lady Stitch! And kudos on the training! Now how did you do it so I can do the same thing. Nobody say anything but I'm going to JoAnn's in the morning to buy some black brocade. Everything is coming down to the wire so I thought I would order myself a simple waist cincher for my pirate outfit rather than make one. Mistake! It should have fit me but it's about 5 inches too small. No time to exchange it so i'm going to add some side panels of black brocade that I think will look good with the blue fabric. I told my husband I didn't need more fabric but this little emergency came up and I'll try not to buy more than I need. Wish me luck.

He caught the prop making bug. This means he is now on the look out for anything intresting that could be turned into something even more intresting.  His stash of "bits" is soon going to rival my fabric stash. Also he has found out that by having a wife that is creative he gets all kinds of nice toys if he is nice to me.  Granted if I'm nice to him he makes me cool pieces to go with my outfits.
I do have to say that someone was a genius when they set up the shopping center near us.  They put a Lowes right next to a Joann's.  The men can go to Lowe's and the girls to Joann's, but does each want to leave the other unsupervised in those stores.   ;D

Baroness:  Check out the Remnant bin.  If you don't need a lot you can get a deal by finding small lengths there.  It has saved me money, and time in the cutting line by doing that.  I just have to remember I can only get the remenet that I NEED, not every one that I WANT.  ;)

Rosamundi:  Here is a link to where I review the items I make. I tend to lurk on the site unless I have specific questions, but it is a great place to do honest reviews of things you've made. http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/search.pl?ProfileID=172290&search=search

Well
For a minuscule amount of minutes I thought I would be able to report an addition to the stash but alas it was not to be.
Last week I set out on a 3000 mile round trip road trip from south florida to cape cod and back for work.
Lo and behold our first hotel stop was in fredericksburg, Maryland.
As we are pulling into our hotel I take a double look- there is a Hancocks across the street from our hotel - but of course we got there after it closed and we left at midnight the same night.
So close yet so far.  :'(

Oh, Auryn, I had the same thing happen! Last winter I went on a business trip to Amish country, and my hotel was down the road from a massive general store-slash-quilt shop. My BFF (hee) lives in a nearby town, and she was *totally* up for a fabric spree, but unfortunately, my work schedule just didn't permit (well, that and the Amish hours!  :D).

Ok, today is the last day of Hancock Fabrics Annual Clearance sale, and they have cotton gauze solids for $1.99 a yard!!!  New chemise for myself AND my renlet, plus we're going to look for the upholstery material for her first bodice (minus the boning, because she is 9, and would rather be comfortable than fashionable)!!!  Oh, and patterns on sale, also, although I've got most of the Simplicity and McCalls costuming patterns already...  ::)   heheh

I am so glad you posted this!  I haven't really been paying any attention to my flyers lately.  So I left work a little early and managed to get about $130 worth at 50% off! :D
I want to make a sort of gypsy ensemble and I got the fabric and trim for that AND the trim for the noble gown that I ran out of AND some remnants AND gold ribbon at $.05 a yard (yes, 5 cents!)!  Woo Hoo!!! ;D

I just happened to notice a Hancock fabrics today, and it was indeed the last day of their sale!  My son wants a new jerkin, so I had my eyes peeled for some green upholstery.  FOUND IT!!  It was on the clearance rack for $15 per yard, and it was 50% off for the sale!  Great find!

And I though I was being naughty by spending just under $44 for my entire haul!!!  I got around 15-16 yards, mostly gauze solids for 3 new chemises, one for my renlet, some gorgeous buttery soft drapery for her new bodice, enough upholstery for me a new bodice as well, and... 4.33 yards of some gorgeous fiery RED for her a new cloak and me a new skirt, in something that looks almost like a triple weight Dupioni (with the slubs) but it's obviously a synthetic, or at least a blend.  It didn't have a board, so I know nothing about it except that the color is amazing, and it has the loveliest subtle sheen to it... and that the final price for this piece (after a bit of confusion on their part) came out to $1.40 per YARD!!!  I'll try to get some pics of it up later.

(edit)
Ok, it's later, and I've got one pic, although it was taken with my phone, then sent to my email, so I'm not really sure if the color will be true...

Okay so in the vein of if you don't get it, it will be gone? I had to pick up this lovely stuff!!! Squeee!

I know right? Okay so it is 3 Panels of 3 yards each and 54" wide, so 9 yards, I won it from eBay back before the Volcano burst, then the shipping cost went through the roof, and so I just got it today!

What do you all think?

Lovely!  DO you have plans for it already, or is it going into the stash until is speaks to you?

Yesterday, I found 7.5 yds of navy velvteen (the nice heavy stuff) at Joanns for $3.50/yd (50% off red tag!). With the gold brocade I added to my stash last month, I think this means I can finally start my new garb! I also added 4yds of a very pretty off-white cotton for chemises, and another 3yds of the beautiful gold/blue-green home dec I found last month.

Did I mention that when I walked into Joanns, I thought I was simply picking up some brown bias, 1/2 yd brown cotton, brown thread, hooks and eyes, and interfacing? Whoops.

It is going into the stash, anything I find that is well Fleur-y goes into stash, I wish I could find something with Tudor Roses, that is under $65.00 per yard, and yes I have some of that in black but only 4 yards.
