Just came off a busy week of Alterations.

Now I am back working on then Pelican Portrait gown. I have the Underlayer of the bodice put together with 2 layers of Cotton canvas Duck with light boning using the heavy duty cable ties.

The lining is put together. Now I am waiting on an order of more Emerald/gold plated set jewels from www.sapphireandsage.com to finish the other side of the front of the Bodice. Once then jewels come in, I can finish the embellishing, make the slashes for the silk underneath to poof out before I put everything else together.

I hate being held up.

Been waiting for pictures from you!

I would like to know why is it that the one thing that is critical for you to go forward on a project is ALWAYS the thing that is stuck back ordered or took longer than expected to be shipped.  Drives me bonkers!

lady stitch: I usually have the issue of walking in to the one store that I know carries the one thing I need and I can't find it and they either are sold out or none of the employees know what I'm talking about.

I'm sure I'm about tohave a major issue cuz the bride whose wedding dress I'm making just requested I add a neon orange vest to her order for her groom...no biggie cuz I've got the time...the issue is going to be finding that neon orange satin

Pretty. Odd.

There is a reason I don't do weddings.   :-\

Actually with the Halloween fabrics being already out at Joann's you might just find it.  Also does the vest have to be satin? You might be able to find a nice neon orage spandex, but back it with cotton so it doesn't strech and build it from there.
Depending on how much effort you want to put into it, you could always try dying it. (Not the best option but it is one.)

I do have another project started. one for my 13 year old granddaughter.

She asked for an Irish dress in red with black trims, red and black underskirt, Chemise, Bloomies, and Cavalier Hat similar to mine for this season's MNRF. I will make it so that she can wear it for more than one season. I have the Underskirt, Chemise, and bloomies cut out and ready to make.

The bride is one of my best friends from high school...I had promised her back in high school that I would make her dress. She said that no one would be able to make it quite right since they don't know her and what she likes...basically its a black and lime green corset and tulle skirt...yes black and lime green for a wedding dress lol

I didn't realized halloween fabric was already at Joanns...I may be in luck! She said it doesn't need to be satin, but her mom wants it to be satin and her mom is paying for it...

The halloween fabric isn't on sale, but I walked away with some great "costumey" fabrics a month ago.  I had to use my 40% off coupon to get a sale on it but they had it.  A clerk told me they start putting out Halloween and Thanksgiving ish fabric in June, and then Christmas in July right after the 4th because crafters have to get wares ready for the labor day craft shows.  If you want to see Fall style items you are going to have to be able to get the supplies much earlier.

I had no idea, but it makes sense to put out holiday supplies way before the holiday to give crafters time to use them for the holiday...As soon as I get the supplies check I'm gonna make a mad dash for neon orange fabric...hopefully there will be something good with halloween stuff

I wish you luck. :)  I was just happy to actually find costumey stuff that easily.  I usually am scrounging for stuff.

I realized last night why I've been so ansy lately.  I haven't sewn anything in 3 weeks.  I need to start making SOMETHING!

I hadn't sewn anything since like may until this dress...I've had no money for supplies and no inspiration for things i could make with things i already have...

Ariel, if you can't find fluorescent orange satin, you might try silk. Silk Baron has a lot of VERY BRIGHT oranges, like this gorgeous dupioni:
