...But most of all an obscure soundtrack called 'Night of the Comet'. It totally rocks!...

You and I must have the same taste in movies... Night of the Comet is a favourite sci-fi comedy

OMG Merlin! How could we EVER forget 'Flashback' for the soundtrack alone?

Me too!!!!  Love Repo so much.  Another one of my recent faves is the movie musical of "Reefer Madness". I also love the old Streisand classics: Hello, Dolly, On a Clear Day, A Star is Born.  I've also discovered an affinity for "Hair" after the latest revival.

I could go on and on about musicals, lol. Most of my ipod is full of them. Another one I love that I never hear people mention is "Assassins". Really good music, classic Sondheim.

I am sooooo lame, but for me its "Sisters" from White Christmas - even from 3000 miles away I know my sis is singing along with me....

So much so, that at her wedding rehersal, we filed out of the church signing "we'll follow the old broad, whereve she wants to go......"

yes.... I am old

I love Paint Your Wagon too! But my favorite is (croak along with me!) Do you know where hell is? Hell is in hello.  Heaven's in good bye forever, it's time for me to go.  LOVE IT!

And the Quiet Man - wonderful movie.  Does anyone else think John Wayne (or about any other man) is hotter than hot in the churchyard with his dress shirt all wet and transparent and clinging.  *whew!*

That's definitely what a man should look like with his shirt all wet and clingy (and very transparent!), and I'd buy stock in that shirt company if I knew the name!  :D  Silk, no doubt about it!  The movie used to play every year on St. Patrick's Day, but it doesn't anymore.  I need to just buy it, since it's my favorite movie, ever...

Of course, I also love all those old musicals.  When I was a kid we had 4 channels, the 3 major networks and PBS, and Saturday afternoon they always showed old movies and/or musicals, and I would watch them in wonder and fascination!  One of my favorite musicals is Brigadoon...

Ok, this is big time old school, but still makes me want to tap my toes....

...and this is even older, but it just sizzles. Rita Hayworth was a Goddess.

Everyone has such good taste. I found Brigadoon at Good Will several months ago.  Of course I bought it.  Sisters - of course!  Love the rehearsal story.

I am going to add to my list:

When You're Good to Mama AND Cell Block Tango (Pop! Six! Squish! Uh Uh! Cicero! Lipschitz!) - Chicago
Any Cole Porter song in any movie with Fred Astaire
Just about anything from Cabaret!
So long Dearie - Hello, Dolly (but I prefer Carol Channing)

Keep 'em coming!  I love reminiscing & finding new joys.

"I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General" from The Pirate Movie. Who else remembers THAT gem from the 80s? That whole movie is such a guilty pleasure.

That was too funny, although I remember it better from the several times I've seen The Pirates of Penzance!  My favorite version was Gilda Radner's parody of it on the Muppet Show with a 6ft tall talking carrot...  :D

John Wayne was in a musical?  ;D

No, but "The Quiet Man" has some good Irish music. One of the best movies by the John Ford Repertory Company.

Nimue and I love The Quiet Man. Mr. Wayne is at his usual meh-acting, great entertainment self. Funny thing about the Duke: he was somewhat less than mediocre (for the most part) as an actor, but he was a real champ as an entertainer.

I was obsessed with Pirates of Penzance when I was little, I had the biggest crush on Kevin Kline in kindergarten lol. It's still one of my favorites!
