Less flashy main castle of Saint-Pierre, Italy, perched on a rocky outcrop, the Castello di Sarriod de la Tour stands, protected by a large curtain wall.

Originally built in the 11th century, the castle was added on to through the late 15th century. Notable is the main hall decorated with 171 corbels carved into the shapes of mythical monsters and animals.

Vecpiebalga Castle is a castle in the historical region of Vidzeme, in northern Latvia.

In its Origins Vecpiebalga Medieval Castle was a regular quadrangular building with household dwelling and part wing. Castle was damaged by fights in the 14th and 15th century. Old medieval castle became unusable for inhabitating already in the 17th century.

El Jadida Portuguese castle is on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.

El Jadida, previously known as Mazagan (Portuguese: Mazagão), was seized in 1502 by the Portuguese, who built the square castle. They controlled this city until 1769, adding the outer star type fortifications.

Norviliskes Castle is a Renaissance style castle in Norviliskes, Lithuania.

The Norviliskes Castle is first mentioned in 1586. The Lithuanian-Belorussian border marks the edge of the castle grounds.

Septfontaines Castle, sometimes locally referred to as Burg Simmern, is in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

SEPTFONTAINES is located at the entrance of the "Valley of the Seven Castles. Septfontaines "is a "French-ization" of the German word SIMMERN (sometimes written as SIEBENBORN). The fortress was originally built in the 11th century, and was documented in 1233. Another structure bearing the same name was built in the 1700's.

Schierstins Tower was built c. 1300 out of brick in Feanwâlden, The Netherlands.

The building is first mentioned in 1439 on a piece of parchment. The moat has mostly been filled in.

Fraeylemaborg is a castle in Schloteren, in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands.

In 1475 there is a farm with the name Frealemaheerd. In the archive of 1504 one can find Remmer Fraeylema. Most of the current structure was built in the 16th century with modifications in the 17th. The Castle does retain its original moat, though it barely meets the criteria to be a double moat.

Baghsar Castle lies above the Samhni valley in Pakistan.

Some historians believe that there was a crude fortress here before it was overtaken by the Mughal Empire in 1526 and rebuilt.

Skardu Fort or Karpocho Fort is a fort in Skardu city in Gilgit-Baltistan of the disputed Kashmir region.

The construction of the Kharphocho Fort or the "King of Forts " has been attributed by Hashmatullah (a historian) to Maqpoon Bukha or more correctly Bugha, the founder of the kingdom of the skardu (1490 - 1515 AD).

Zamek Szczecin is in Szczecin, Poland.

Szczecin was the seat of the dukes of Pomerania-Stettin of the House of Pomerania (Griffins), who ruled the Duchy of Pomerania from 1121 to 1637.
Barnim the Great of Pomerania-Stettin erected the castle within Szczecin's walls against the will of the burghers in 1346. An older Pomeranian burgh had been leveled in 1249.

What remains of Biecz Castle are in Biecz, Poland.

During the course of history, there existed three separate castles in Biecz. Currently, only the ruins of one of these remain. Of the other two castles, one was built in the current location of the Franciscan church, while the other was located on land owned by the hospital. What remains of the Gothic royal castle located on nearby Górze Zamkowej (literally Castle Mountain). The castle was built in the 13th century, of fortified stone.

Obidos is a castle in the town of Obidos, located in the subregion Oeste and district of Leiria, in Portugal.

The name "Óbidos" probably derives from the Latin term oppidum, meaning "citadel", or "fortified city". Roman occupation of the area has been recently confirmed by archaeological excavations, which revealed the existence of a Roman city very close to the hill where the village is located.  Sometime after 713 the Moors established a fortification on top of the hill.

The Castle of São Jorge is a moorish castle that occupies a commanding position overlooking the city of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

Although the first fortifications on this Lisbon hilltop are known to be no older than the second century BC, archaeological research has shown that humans have occupied the site since the sixth century BC, and possibly earlier.

Spissky Hrad in eastern Slovakia form one of the largest castle sites in Central Europe.

Spiš Castle was built in the 12th century on the site of an earlier castle. It was the political, administrative, economic and cultural centre of Spiš County of the Kingdom of Hungary. Before 1464, it was owned by the List of rulers of Hungary|kings of Hungary.
