Yeah, I would have taken Richard Harris over Franco Nero anyday:D
Show me your tan lines..and I'll show you mine!

I just want to be Layla.....

You know, I've never seen Camelot. I did have the chance to see Richard Burton in the on stage version back in 1980, and it was so bad (Richard was going through one of his rough spots) I think I was scarred for life. May have to rent that one out one day.

Rani Zemirah

I once read a review of the two versions, and if I recall correctly, it said that while Richard Burton played the role of Arther as a man born to greatness, Richard Harris played it as a man who had greatness thrust upon him... and that made all the difference.  I much prefer the Harris version, myself.  And yes, Harris had far more charisma than Nero, to my eye, anyway.

Anna, it's well worth the rental fee...

Back in the '80's I saw Richard Harris in the Camelot revival.  As lovely as he was in the movie, the live version - with him being older and wiser - was a thing of beauty.  The schmuck sitting behind us had to sing Every.Single.Song.

Oh, that would have been incredible!

Yeah, I wish I'd been able to see Harris in the roll.

A segway here, but I *was* fortunate to see Yul Brenner in "The King and I", on broadway. That was amazing! A favorite movie in our household.

Rani Zemirah

Oh, now that I would have given a great deal to see...  I had such a crush on Yul Brenner!  Sexy man... and he had the most amazing eyes!  Of course, he almost always played those fiery, volatile types... well, except when he played a robot, of course!  :D

Hah! Yes. That was an awesome movie, Westworld. Whoops, it's Yul *Brynner*. I mispelled his name earlier, and you are very sweet to not point that out Rani.  :) ....my spelling has been horrid lately and I always am in such a hurry I forget to spellcheck.

I too had the honor of seeing Richard Harris as Arthur.  I refrained from singing everything aloud...

I didn't even catch it, Anna!  :D  I do recall now that it always struck me as interesting that he had 2 y's in his name, and I didn't really know many people with an odder name than mine when I was growing up...  heheh

I may work for lawyers, but in the end it's just a different type of piracy...   :P

I had the great pleasure of being in the premier night audience - and hearing the song for the first time was like being struck by lightning.

In a really, really bad outfit (but with black pearl earrings I had my mom make for me), here I am at the gate, anxiously awaiting the evening:
