Deckard And Zhora

Ok, so I finally got my hubby to take some pictures of my work-in-progress. I still have a lot of tweaking and "finishing" to do, as well as adding some important things like footwear and a mini topper, but here's the first look. I know there's a lot going on!!  :P

Here's the up-close look at my "bionic arm" made from recycled belts and an old desk lamp. Still need to finish the glove and fasten the shoulder pad on better. I also will have to mod the white shirt by cutting off the sleeve as I don't like the white material underneath.

Here's the back view with the bustle sticking through my "tux" tails. When faced with the choice of showing off the bustle or having long tails, I couldn't decide. My dad reminded me of the hot pink dress and blue coat in the new Sherlock Holmes where her coat goes around the bustle, hence the idea for this!

I have quite a lot left to do, but after realizing I'm not going to have to completely re-do my whole corset (I just made it more of an under-bust and I'm going to rig up something more permanent to cover me up-top) I'm rather happy with the way it is turning out!

love the bionic arm! what did you use for the shoulder part? both the padding and the black thing attached to it?
Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

The whole shoulder apparatus is a "Rollerblade" brand knee pad that I spray painted. I'm still trying to figure out some way to rig it up over the coat so it doesn't move around on me.  :D

Stalkwell

All:

I have a few more shots up (mostly from DragonCon) of steamy goodness...

They include at least two steam punk fashion shows, and a lot of very creative people.

The wife also has some new things posted...

More to come...

Lovely shots, Stalkwell.  I know I've seen the steamy in B/w/sepia coat & model on LJ.  Thanks for sharing.

Need some help with Steampunk makeup.  My workplace does 'Book Character Day' where the kids can dress in costume & of course the teachers get into the act as well.  I have an awesome 1/2 face mask (Its Phantom of the Opera-esque) but I cannot wear it to school.  Therefore I'm looking for some cool make-up ideas that will accent instead of cover my face.  I'm a steampunk explorer so not as frilly as some garb.

I'd go very natural - some powder, blush, a little eyeliner, mascara and a touch of neutral lipstick.  Have fun!

Taaaacky double post, 'k?

Tomorrow I'm off to FenCon in Dallas.  Although it doesn't have a theme, per se, there are a couple of boards of interest; one is a tutorial on making mini top hats (squee!) and the other is on Victorian clothing (squee! again).  There may be others, but these two caught my eye.  I will go armed with pen and pad for a multitude of notes.
