I remember visiting that crater more than 40 years ago.  Are there parks with petrified forests near there?

Yep. We passed the crater on the way to the petrified forest and the painted desert. Stopped by Meteor Crater on the way back to flagstaff.

Today in Minnesota we dubbed it Snowmageddon the cats just thought it was the end of them....

One just stared in awe, the other tried digging his way out the door....
Bubbles are pure magic... if you don't believe me watch any man, woman, or child chase a bubble down the road.

Here's my first experiment with creating an HDR image.  Last Saturday for Lunch, I went to BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse here in Clear Lake, and shot some groups of 3-photos using 2-Stop Bracketing between them with my Nikon D90, saving them as RAW NEF files.  The groups of 3 images were processed using Luminance HDR 2.0.0, running on my Linux PC.

My first HDR image.

Very cool photo!  It looks like you have additonal color where there shouldn't be any, in the highlight areas of the images.  This appears more like a solarization effect vs. increased tonal range of an HDR image.  Still good photo though!

Thanks!

The colors in the highlights were probably introduced by Luminance 2.0.0 HDR during its Tonemapping of the HDR down to LDR, so it could be displayed on a standard PC monitor.  I haven't tried very many of the possible adjustment settings.

Luminance 2.0.2-pre1 HDR is available FREE for Linux, Macs, and Windows PC's.

Since no one has put up a picture of the day for a couple days, let me do it! The Kansas City Renaissance Festival covered in snow. So neat ( to me anyways ) to see the lanes usually so bustling with activity blanketed in a lovely white snow, and so quiet.

Post more, kcdcchef! That's cool (no pun intended)!
