The rest of the Bias Tape has been sewn on, as with the lining. The Gold and Black stoned Buttons and pearls add a regal touch. The pearls are strung with 20 guage Jewelry wire. They will not be popping off anytime soon.

Now on to the Apron and ruff. Then the bodice goes to  the Shoe Repair for grommetting.

Positively Stunning!! It will be an honor to wear this gown!!  :) I couldn't possibly be happier with how it's come together!

The ruff and Apron

The Ruff.

This was a challabge in that this neck ruff is different from an Elizabethan ruff. Hungarians were diferent in some of their adornments.

I used a lighter weight buckram for the base and a less stiff Millinery wire. It will take some shaping to dget it to lay jusr ight. Tht shiny fabric is sparkiling Organza. I just wish the lace was stiffer.. Perhaps some stach to make it stiffer.

For the first time making one like this, I am happy. Tyhis is looking like the portrait.

Oh how I love sparkling organza...It's what I used on my Kaylee dress. Flash photos do wonders for its shimmer.

I am getting peeved with how the ruff is behaving. I think I am going to have to remake it. it wants to wobble all oer the place despite starching and [pressing to get the things sized properly. The rest came out sa it was supposed to.

Kate XXXXXX

Would it have originally been self supporting or supported by a separate supportasse?

If you're going to re-do it, you could go by another idea which occurs in at least one of the portrait copies of the countess: a collar with basically the same outer lines as the one you've made, but with the inside following the neck opening of the bodice, exposing her chest/neck. Somewhere in between these:

The other portrait copies of her seems to be more like the one you made, but I like the slight hint of vampire an exposed neck would give (even though the lady was no vampire as such, and definitely not the victim...!). There is a version with a nice drawn-thread needlework (?) collar similar to the one you made. It would probably have the kind of supportasse Kate refers to. There's many examples in the latest Patterns of Fashion (which you probably know by heart, hehe).

ETA: forgot the link to that last portrait version!

Got more studds & trim down the "skirt" part of the doublet.  We also found a triangle metalic trim on clearance, and added it onto the hem of the skirt portion.  It looks amazing.  Then added it to the gantlets.

My evil queen needed a chiffon scarf, but it was too floaty.  I found some gold fringe, and since she is the mom of my bad guy, added a row of the trim from his doublet front next to the frindge.  It turned out VERY nice.  I'm very happy. :)

I think I am going to remake it and send it off to Tygrkat at a later date. I am not hapy with the ruff as is.

From the links you provided, opera. I see that the ruff is a seperate piece in itself. I have the stiffer beckram that might work and be more stable.

Thanks so much for the imput. Even an old pro like me is open still to learning new tricks.  ;D

Take your time and re-work whatever you feel necessary, we probably won't get to Faire until closer to the end of the season (in August) ~ and I'm sorry that ruff is giving you such a hard time  :-\

I'm sure whatever solution you come up with will be lovely!

I have the Bodice at the Shoe repair for grommetting. I will be sending out everything sans Ruff later next week. That I will send seperately as I want to remake it. I have other ideas as to do that with extra thought.

Ok the first thing for the fuzzlet has been made.  I made the tan sleep sack last night and handed it over to the PP to decorate.  He is making it appear like a burlap sack using fabric spray paint and such.  All non toxic.  I'm trying to decide do I want to post pics of it now, or wait until she is wearing it?
It appears a little big, but she could wear it for TRF and for Sherwood I would think.

We want to see it NOW, of course!  And when the PP is done distressing it. AND when Baby Stitch is in it!!
