Lady Rebecca

I've been working an a 1905 blouse/skirt/sash set based on this afternoon dress from the Met.

At this point, the skirt needs two rows of horizontal lace (I'm not doing three since it looks too bulky), but it has the vertical strips. The blouse has a bit more hand-sewing of the lace left (which I plan to finish tonight), and it needs two more buttons, one buttonhole, the band and bow at the neck, sleeves, darts in the under muslin layer, and gathers in the chiffon layer into a so-far-nonexistent waistband.

But here's pics of the blouse as it is. The first it what it actually looks like, and the other two are pinned as if it's gathered.

I promised I would send progress of the baby pink pirate outfit.  ;D
I need to deal with the neck edge, center front, and then add the "skirt" to it.  I'm thinking I can find some small gold buttons to look like Daddy's vest & coat edge.  I'm trying to decide, do I want the same feather trim on the "skirt" hem or not.

I would go with lace Stitch feathers get warm if the kiddo is sitting she may get hot. That is beyond cute!

LadyStitch

I may or may not put the same trim that is down the front on the hem.  The PP can't decided what he wants on the hem of his own coat.  ::)
I think she will be down right adorable in it.  Some people are asking me, "Why put so much effort into an item she might wear once?" My responce," Pictures last forever! Besides she will be cute." Considering this has come completly out of stash so far, it isn't a serious investment other than time.

Still its too cute for words! Yay for stash busters too

ADORABLE!!!

I also vote nay on the feathers for baby--I see feathers + baby drool + baby *mouth*... just no.

LadyStitch

I'm thinking of making a mini bib/ cravat for her. Maybe make it out of scrap aida cloth and stitch a flamingo on it.  That way daddy and baby BOTH have a "cravat".  The pattern calls for you to attach a hood, which in turn you stitch their hat to.  I don't want to do that, so I'm thinking of using white bias tape around the neck so it looks like a "collar" , and attach the bib to it.  All the parts are machine washable, if she drools on it, in the handwashing at least it can go.

Actually of all that I have made her so far mundane and regular I think I've spent maybe $20. I had to get short zippers, and I fell in love with some remaments so 50% off 50% off fabric. :)  My goal this year was to use up more of my stash, and she is gettting it.  If along the way the Renlet get's more renn and mundane outfits, so be it.

Stitch, I'd embroider the buttons on if I were you... just because buttons are a choking hazard, and no one can keep their eyes on an infant every single second of the day, particularly not at Faire...

Same with the cravat... if you were to sew it onto the shirt front it wouldn't be something tied around her neck, to possibly get caught on something.

Baby proofing takes up almost as much time as baby raising, I sometimes think!  :D

LadyStitch

I was planning on sewing the bib/ cravat to the outfit to begin with.  The buttons done as embroidry, that is possible.

You could even attach the cravat with velcro (with the softer "loop" side on the shirt, itself) so it can be taken off and washed separately, in hotter water, because that's the part that will get dirtiest.

LadyStitch, even half done, that's adorable!

And, your progress is motivation for me to get started on my TinyTyrant's garb for faire #2. I've purchased more remnants for her than full cuts of fabric for me.

I can't wait to see the finished product. Great job!

Syrilla

I have so enjoyed seeing what every one is doing.  It makes me want to get back to my other UFO projects...  I am sorry that I haven't been commenting or adding or I have been lurking because my job has had me sewing away.  It's been under wraps till the design was approved.  The blue and grey isn't going to be the color, but the white is correct.  If you can't guess, they are space suit for a new area at "Space Camp".  In order of design and build to end results.

The last pictures is an first fitting for the parts and pieces.

Very cool, Syrilla!!

I finished 2 Pirate Vests for a client. One of which is the Captain Barbossa vest from POTC series. Now on to getting 2 Pirate coats cut out. Photos will ensue.
