Mistress April, you'd laugh if you could see me in my everyday uniform of jeans & a t.  But I do love to dress up and totally adore the curves you can only get from a good Victorian corset.  I'll never wear another non-Vic bodice or corset again.

I bought my first corset (see profile pic) at CastaDiva at the first year of Sherwood and have been in love with corsets ever since.  I have decided to purchase a new one this year, probably from Damsel in the Dress and maybe one from Scarlett's Corset!

And I am sure you look fab in yours!

Well I am no skinny minny and I was actually worried about ordering online from Damsel in this Dress for that reason but I think if I order it ahead of time and have a prof take my measurements then it will be ready for TRF!
I'm so hippy I either have to have them custom made or make them myself.  I've finally gotten to the point where my underbust corsets are coming out well-made, but haven't had the brass ones to make an overbust one yet.  Much less one w/a busk -- those things scare me!

It sounds like you're looking in the right places!
Beware the ebay copycats of Damsel in this Dress (Von Lancelot comes to mind), if you haven't already seen them.
There have have been quite a few knock offs posted on ebay over the last few years, and they are not nearly as well made. They are designed to look like a corset without actually doing what corset does (squishing).   O.K. for stick thin girls but not meant for shaping at all.

Thank you!  I am excited about upcoming TRF and wearing everything I am putting together

Steamers, because they know it's fantasy and has little historical basis, tend to be more open in what's acceptable to them as "steamy".   We don't have to be HA because it's FANTASY.  Yeah, there's stuff out there that makes me cringe.  Same at ren fest, same in my mundane life.  Meh.  It's not my place to judge.  If I had a lab/studio/smithy where I could make X, I would.  Since I don't, I does the best with what I gots.

Hmmm, I wonder if there's a Steampunk People of Wal Mart web site?   :o   ;)   ;D

So I was watching Pawn Stars this evening and a guy came into the shop with a Bague Pistolet.  This is the first time I have ever seen one and instantly thought Steampunk!!  Has anyone tried to replicate these?

Here is a link to a site I found that has pics of an antique with bullets.  History is that these rings are 1800's, mostly worn by ladies and yes live ammo.

Did you see the other items in the 'curiousities' section of that web page?  A crucifix pistol and other items.  Pretty cool.  It's like James Bond circa 1800's lol!  :D
