Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

The Barbossa Vest front view with the Double Brested feature.

Vest back view with a longer backpiece with back slitted opening.

Gold swirled buttons from Pillaged Village.

I used the JP Ryan pattern for Period Waistcoats http://www.jpryan.com/waistcoa.htm. I tweaked the pattern just a bit to get the Doubled Breasted feature to work. Vest has functional pockets.

For Pirate coats, I use this patern the most...http://www.jpryan.com/details/1750.html I vary each coat to have its own uniqueness be it buttons, trims, etc.

Love the vest colors!  Well done!

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Thanks Syrilla!

I am now caught up on ALterations, I can get the Pirate coats cut out. The Barbossa Coat will go with the Vest.

The client I am making the Barbossa ensemble for is a lead Singer of an up and coming Alternative Rock Band named MINOS, located here in Rochester. I heard them play the other night when thry opened for Dokken. I have to say they were better than Dokken! i have done a number of pieces for this client, whom I have known now for going on 11 years. He lives just a few blocks away from me.

Phew!!! After months of no energy, my boredom has finally peaked, and I finally...FINALLY got the urge to sew!!! Here is the renlet garb for my little bean Charlotte (i'm 37 weeks, so any day now for her debut!).  Simple chemise and overdress.  I cut the fabric to make little booties, but I'm torn between the booties and the little moccasins!

OH! LS, that is precious!

One vote for matching booties.

Baby Garb. Way too darling!!! Next year will be my turn. Naomie will be old enough to go to Faire.

Progress on my version opf the Captain Barbossa coat.  I have the lining ready to get sewn in. I would have done that today, but I went to the County Fair instead.

The sleeves and cuffs. Fabric is a smokey Grey medium Wale Corduroy as is the cuffs. Scrolled Gimp trim and Silver buttons. The inner seam of the coat is tacked to allow the shirt to poof through.

Showing the trim. Lining next to go in.

Coat has functional pockets. The pocket flaps are made using the same fabric and trim as the cuffs. More photos when the coat is finished.

Mini-topper I made last night after drafting the pattern for it from stiffened craft felt.  I used upholstery chenille (pain in the neck, and I'll never use it again), and fully lined it with the same.  The color is completely black, but I couldn't adjust the photo to get even a little detail without the blue bits appearing.  I still have to decorate it, but I've been up all night working on it, and now I need a break for a few hours.

First mini ever... and first "real" hat, as well.

It is a wonderful hat!
Sorry you had to learn about chenille....that stuff makes me say bad words.

Thank you, ladies!  Nice to finally have something to post in here!  It's actually over in the Show Us Your Hats thread now, because it's... finished!!!  All trimmed and ready to go!

Project Embroidered Chemise:

Two sleeves done (minus the gussets)! I've transferred the motifs, while my grandmother is doing the actual work. The chemise is loosely based on one described on page 112 in POF 4. I'm using a fine linen for the chemise, but I'm using the same for the whole garb instead of a thicker for the body and a finer for the sleeves. Also, the embroidery is black cotton and not purple silk, and I'm not sure I'll add all the gold the original has. And I've even spaced them differently. I'll also make the neckline lower.

But the actual motifs is a direct copy, as a good closeup of one (the acorn/pomegranate/vine) was included on page 55. By doing extreme closeups of the chemise sleeve, I got to draft a good pattern of the other motif (rose, pansy and fleur-de-lis). So by now the two sleeves are done, and I hope the rest of the progress will be quicker. But then again, there's no hurry.

I'm so spoiled, because my grandmother wants more embroidery projects... She's tired of small tablecloths and pillows. What a luxury! For ME, that is. ;)

Syrilla

I Love them and your grandmother!

DonaCatalina

That chemise is really scrumptious. Tell your grandmother that I love the embroidery.
