Magnolia itself is dry (or was). There are several liquor stores in the surrounding area tho.

The aforementioned Magnolia Diner is very ren-friendly & they stay open later during faire. A lot of the others stick to their regular closing times & IMO lose out on our coin.

Traffic is not the only reason they don't like us. A large minority of the older folk have a small town religious attitude about it & don't want to associate with faire folk lest they be tainted. Fine, don't want them at my party anyway.

Yep yep. You know we love those late night gatherings at the Diner.
We also hit up Rancho Grande late on some Saturday nights, and they have always given us good service and been cool with our eccentricities.

I personally don't spend too much money in Magnolia, but that is more a matter of timing than anything.
I normally stay in Spring and spend more money there on Friday night after driving down from Dallas.
If there was more than the one hotel in Magnolia I might be more inclined to do more business there.

Don't blink  :D ;D

But truthfully, this section of Magnolia is just starting to develop to this century.  Nothing in the form of shopping until you get closer to The Woodlands.

There is a new assisted living center for the elderly being built and a sign posted for a new apartment complex on Nichols Sawmill.  These are but maybe a half mile from 249/Magnolia Blvd.

A new Walgreens proposed for building.  A new restraurant called Mo-Co's Grill.

There's also a new Tex-Mex place where the Chinese place used to be, in the same center as The Diner. Don't know if that is the same as Mo-Co's.

Also, if you are looking up places online, the "Magnolia" postal footprint is much, much bigger than the actual city limits of Magnolia.

Ravic that tex-mex place could very well be Mo-Co's.  I will have to look next time I'm out running errands.

Yep, Magnolia is big, but I was talking mostly about development on the west side, where I live and is close to faire.  I always expected that the east side of Magnolia would see big development first since it is next to The Woodlands, which grows daily lol.

Anyone ever googled King George Coulam?  Interesting man.  He basically owns the Festival and the Town.  http://www.txdirectory.com/online/city/detail.php?id=101 .  I also read a lawsuit where he tried to sell TRF in 2006 for $10 million.  Very interesting and eclectic man our King.

Oh well.  LONG LIVE THE KING!

Just to prevent any flame wars from starting, the suit is real, so Hyde is not perpetuating rumours. We all know how those rumours go with the faire, especially that damned Disney one, but in this case it is legit and still going through the appellate process.

Editing to add- in case that isn't the one Hyde was referring to, there are two other suits involving George- the one involving his brother back in 1989-90, and the infamous food vendor scuffle in '85

That is the one I was reading about.  Not trying to fire anyone up.  Just read about that and the looking for a wife and what not.  Someone told me his brother owns Scarborough.  Is that true?

As a vendor, we do visit Magnolia for food after hours.  A lot of times we don't even have a chance to think about eating until after cannon, when all the food vendors are closed, lol.  If this new pact could somehow cut down on traffic to speed up that process it would be great.  Or to take it a step further, I believe it was Lady Stitch who mentioned the picnic packs, if a food merchant in Magnolia would offer these and deliver to the back gate at TRF, I'd take advantage of it in a heartbeat.

Someone needs to make a proposal to the restaurants...

I don't always agree with my mum on most things, but one thing I do know is if there is a possible market for it food wise, why not take a chance on it.  Heck if some one got entrenurial, they could get a food delivery service for the vendors.  Only deliver food AFTER closing to the back gate, so not to take away from possibly in faire food sales.  If they have their orders in by say 5PM, and paid for by Credit card, then charge say a $5-7 delivery to the back gate fee, I would bet some people would take advantage of it. /shrug just a thought
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

No kidding!!  I haven't been over there yet but I am crossing my fingers that this new place could be something other than Mex/Tex-Mex or BBQ.  We need a really good steakhouse out here, that would make me super happy!
