Wow... that's really kinda... creepy. 

Reminds me just a bit of the whole War of the Worlds plotline... and all those similar tales of some seemingly invincible species invading an unprotected world to enslave a weaker race and feed off it's life essence to further their own existence...

Horseshoe crabs are obviously upper-crust creatures...true blue-bloods.  I had no idea. That was fascinating.

    The only explanation for "blue blood" that I can find so far,  is explained as oxidation of copper in the blood . . .
