So I watched both shows last night, they were fun. It is ironic though that I probably  saw more jousting there then any time I've been to any faire. What I was really watching for is to see who would sneak into the show in the background at Sherwood. It should come to no surprise that I can confirm only one person without a shadow of doubt. What I mean to say is who that person is shouldn't be a surprise

On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Don't have Nat Geo so can't watch.  Hate reality shows anyway.  As far as reality shows go, how would you rate it.  By that I mean, does it do the Ren community justice.

NO! It does NOT do us ANY justice whatsoever.  He's going to ruin EVERYONE'S reputation with this stupid show.

It was too much on the standard reality TV show premise - a bit overplayed.  The jousting was good, just not enough.

Haven't seen it, but saw feedback from a few knights I know on FB last night and with one exception they all pretty much hated it.

Charlie, leader of the Knights comes off as a meathead.  He does not appear to have any interest in the renaissance aspect of what he's doing.  He is much more into the thought of making jousting a nationally recognized sport.  To be honest, the atitude portrayed by him is "I'm gonna make this sport famous, and we won't need these pissant faires anymore."  To be fair, I know there's a lot of editing that goes on, but if someone I considered a friend/employer treated me the way he treats those folks, I'd be gone.

I'll be interested to see if he grows on me, but I think publicizing the "drama" behind the curtains could be a mistake.  Most Danes only every see the "show" and that's what makes faires popular.  However, I will say that while I love the joust "shows" at TRF, this jousting is vastly more interesting and I admire the courage it must take to compete.
Whiskey was invented to keep us Irish from ruling the world.

Strange

If that's all they're going to focus on, 'Danes and Rennies alike might be better served with a show about a squire's progression @ Medieval Times.
The teaser clips I saw for it look like they're expecting sponsorship from Monster Energy and BenGay..

  Just saw the commercials, but now I gotta see this.

For whatever reason, that aspect doesn't bother me all that much. One of the people described it as trying to grow out of "the Renaissance Faire box", which I sort of understand, and is more about dissatisfaction with how the sport is perceived by virtue of being associated with ren faires (ie, the FreeCreditReport.com commercial). What bothered me about the show was the constant macho posturing. If I ever hear the term "alpha wolf" again in my life, it'll be too soon.

Charlie is a familiar type- a fraudulent bullcrap artist who lies about his background and puffs up like a little bully on a playground to compensate for his own insecurities. I can name half a dozen people out at faire (well, except for Harold who got banned) who are just like that. He's a wannabe and a punk, a man who is completely disassociated with concepts of honour and chivalry. He claims to be a knight? Robber-knight I say, a modern incarnation of the bully-in-armour. I don't want his attitude soiling Sherwood's or jousting's reputations

I tried watching this last night and I was bored to sleep.  Wont bother any more with it.
There are many places where compromise is expected;
LOYALTY is not amongst them.

yeah, I DVRed the pilot because it featured Sherwood and some of our folks, but after that I nixed the show from my recording schedule. Waste of time.
