The Castle of Bartenstein is located in the former city Bartenstein, which since 1 January 1973, is part of the urban district of the city Schrozberg

In earliest records, the Lords of Bartenstein had the castle in 1234 and held it as their center of power.

Boldogkovaralja is a castle in the village of the same name in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen county, Hungary.

Also called Boldogko Vara in Hungarian, the castle was begun about 1242.

Huthridurga, also called Ootradroog, is situated about 65 km west of Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka, India.

It was built by Kempegowda and is about 500 years old. After the castle was taken by the British in the eighteenth century, most of it fell into ruin.

The Castellina di Norcia is in the town of Norcia in the province of Perugia, Italy.

The Castellina, was built in 1555-1563 as the residence of the Papal governors, under design by Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola. It now houses a small museum with Roman and medieval artifacts, and documents of the Middle Ages and later periods. The old part of Norcia is also enclosed by 11th century walls. These date from the time when Perugia was part of the Holy Roman Empire.

Cittadella is a medieval walled city in the province of Padua, northern Italy.

The whole fortification was founded in 1220 as a military outpost of Padua. The citadel retains its moat, walls and four thirteenth century boxed in gates.

Castello di Orsara Bormida is loacted in Orsara Bormida, a comune in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont.

The castle was originally built about the year 1000 as simply a watchtower. It was enlarged and added on to though the fourteenth century.

Gassantoda Castle is a ruined mountain castle, or yamashiro, located in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, Japan.

The castle was built in 1195 by the Sasaki Clan. The main keep stood on raised fortifications inside thick walls. All that remains are the stone foundations.

Nurmuiza Castle is a castle in Lauciene parish, in the historical region of Courland, in western Latvia.

Originally built as a castle of the Livonian Order in the fourteenth century; the castle was heavily rebuilt after the Livonian war. Most of the buildings still standing date from 1566. The older parts are in ruin.

Schoenfels Castle is one of the castles belonging to the Valley of the Seven Castles in central Luxembourg.

The castle appears to have been built by Friedrich of Schonevels in 1292 on the site of an earlier structure. The town itself is documented from 846. Through marriage,the castle subsequently belonged to the families of Ansembourg and Sanem. In the 16th century, Henri Schloeder of Lachen became the owner and the Lord of Schoenfels and Busbach.

Castle Rechteren is situated on an island in a dead estuary of the Vecht, in the Netherlands.

From the foundation of the castle about 1225 to the beginning of the 14th century the castle was owned by the Counts of Bentheim. In 1315 it was temporarily in the hands of Herman van Voorst and then through inheritance in possession of the Van Heeckerens.

Czchow Castle is located on a hill in Czchow, Poland.

The castle was probably built in the twelfth century. Czchow castle was first documented as a Royal Customs stronghold in 1327.

Wagengingen Castle is a ruin located in Wageningen, a municipality and a historical town in the central Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland.

The castle was built in 1526; but in the eighteenth century it was mostly dismantled. But it had mostly been destroyed by retreating French troops in 1672.

Baltit Fort or Balti Fort is an ancient fort in the Hunza valley in the Northern Areas of Pakistan.

The foundations of the fort date back around 700 years, but there have been rebuilds and alterations over the centuries. In the 16th century the Thum married a princess from Baltistan who brought master Balti craftsmen to renovate the building as part of her dowry.

Tudorow Castle is in the village of Tudorow in south-central Poland.

The exact build date is not known. The earliest existing document lists the Castrum Tudor in a dispute about water rights in 1371. It follows that the castle must have been built quite some time before that.

The Castle of Sesimbra, also referred to as the Moorish Castle, is located in the village of same name, district of Seuúbal in Portugal.

Successively occupied by the Visigoths and by Muslims after the Romans left, the original castle was probably built by the muslims in the eigth or ninth century. At the time of the Reconquest Christian of the Iberian peninsula , after the conquest of Lisbon ( 1147 ) the possession of this region varied between Muslims and Christians. Weakly manned, the fortification of Sesimbra was initially taken by the forces of Don Afonso Henriques on February 21 of 1165.
