Adriana Rose

what pattern did you use for the pink gown?

DonaCatalina

Splendid gowns. I love how the trim stands out on that blue one.

They are both Margo Anderson. With the pink gown I had to do a lot of adjustment to make it right for a six-year-old, so I guess it's more based on Margo's pattern....

Not Ren, but this is the lace collar for one of my Steampunk costumes for this weekend.  It's a slightly scoop-neck white cotton blouse with a subtle white-on-white stripe woven in, and embroidery around the button placket in front, so I thought I'd dress it up a bit.  Hopefully will have pics of the other two collars I'm currently working on for this weekend, as well... on the costumes, if I'm lucky!  heheh

I'm also making small jeweled pins to hold it in place, since most lace collars were independent of garments, and used with several different blouses.  Not that I'm such a stickler for authenticity, but I also wear the blouse a lot for daily wear, and I don't want a permanent lacy frill around it forever!  :D

Pointy lace for the win!  Where did you get your pointy lace?  (Do I really NEED more pointy lace?  Well, silly question!)

I found the bottom layer (the longer points) at Hancock Fabrics, but it was more expensive than I was hoping, and the writing on the spool was soooo tiny that I couldn't even see that it said it was only a yard!  I was worried that I wasn't going to have enough, so I only gathered the top layer.  Speaking of which, the top layer (shorter points) was on another spool I found at Walmart, of all places, and it was both less expensive AND had more on the spool!  A whole 4 ft!

Here are the gold pins I made to hold the black scalloped lace collar I just finished a bit ago onto my ball gown for the SteamMaker's Ball this Saturday night.  I've had these little masks for probably 15 years, trying to figure out what to do with them... and tonight it finally hit me.  They are just on a clutch pin, but I think they will be really pretty against the black lace.

I'll be making a set with some sort of beads for the pointy lace, as well.

I do really like that lace, and what you did with it.

LadyShadow

Very lovely work Rani. And I absolutely love those little mask. Those are so adorable.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Two of my most recent gowns...

Beautiful work.  I love the blue, and the fabric you used for the underskirt looks great with it.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Thank, everyone!  They were fun!  I have the second collar done, now, and a few pics of it, as well, with the pins in place...

Pinned to the ball gown...

Not a Renn project, but this thread needed a bump!  So check out my brand new sling!  I'm learning to sew and cut with one hand. ;D

.I did the dishes.  It was frought with danger.  The snowman glass fought back & I ended up with 7 stitches on my hand.

Kate XXXXXX

Oh, well, that means you are excused dishes forever and have a justifiable excuse to own a dishwasher!
