Glad to read that you will be taking showers again, Teach. :)

Fraser- I think a lot of it has to do with a combination of factors, including people not being overly jazzed for TRF the way they used to (the common thing I hear is that people go to see their friends, not for the festival, which Terre may want to pay attention to as that can only last so far) and- more importantly- people being overwhelmed with life and the overall financial danglies-crushing vice most people are in. People are having to work twice as hard to make the income their lives are based on, and this leaves them wiped, without the time and/or energy to post a lot.

There is also that "other" place... where many of us find ourselves posting far too frequently, I think.  It's easy to go there and keep up with literally hundreds of people on a daily basis... at least, in a very shallow way... and some on a deeper level, as well.  I do really miss the forums, though... particularly this thread!  We've had YEARS of fun here... and now Faire is getting closer all the time!

I even have new garb, this year... because the old garb just doesn't fit the same way it used to!  :o  :D

I agree, Rani.  The "other" place is OK for some things, but I really love the way this forum is organized.  You can locate faire-specific info and lots more easily.

I know of no "Other Place".  For Ren speak, there is this place and faire.  To Hades with the "Other Place"

Exactly, Martin!  And even better... you can make real friends here, instead of just adding people you never really talk to onto your "friends list".  Both places have their merits... but this is definitely more of a home for most of us than that other place will ever be, and I've really missed it!  I know why I haven't been posting much lately, though... and it has more to do with not being able to get down there to spend time with all of you than anything else.  Not having a vehicle has been a real morale killer for me for the last almost 1.5 years, and it's been hard for me to read about all of you being able to get together, and not feeling like I was able to be part of things down there, anymore.  It's been easier to just not be here, I guess... but I've really missed all of you, and I decided even before we got this other van that I just didn't want to isolate myself like that anymore!

I'm going to try as hard as I can to get us down there this year... because we miss our Fairmily, and need some quality campground time!!!  :)

Dear Fraser,

I am pleased to inform you that the information I gave you about not being able to make AHE was incorrect. It looks as though this red head will indeed be there this year.

Thank y'all so much for the quick responses! Sorry it took so long to respond back. Just transferred over to nights and it has me thrown off just a bit.

Good to see another Louisiana based TRF'er on here. I'm an L.S.U./New Orleans/Mandeville guy. Where do you hail from Lady Alecia?

Yes, that "other" place is definitely feeding into our ADHD culture.  Short term self gratification and narcissistic "I want to be my own reality show star" sheeple mentality.
It is a great tool for sharing information and instant interaction with individuals or groups alike. Notifications directly to your phone on updates, messages, tags, etc.
But I definitely agree with Rani and Sir Martin that this forum allows for more subject specific and ongoing  conversations within a group.  And also agree that that "other" place can be very shallow, if you allow it to be.

Like right now I want to ask  Quickie Mart or Mike if there is any way to go check out the campgrounds off season.  My clan and I would like to make some improvements in our setup and need to get some dimensions to know if space and terrain would allow.
Should I start a new topic here or do I go to the "other" place ("Fields of New Market Campground" page)and ask the admin directly?

If you want an answer here, you probably should start another thread with Mike P's name in the title somehow - or you could send him a PM.  I have not seen much activity from here recently, though, so don't know how often he is monitoring it.  If you go to that other place, you can post it on the feed, but might get a faster response by sending a message.  Sometimes you get Mike P directly; other times Ranger Benjamin, just depending on who gets the feed first.
