Mmmm, Cheesecake and Brigadoon's Black Plague... FishNChips and Guinness at Sea Devil's...

That pizza out in Sherwoods past the elephants is also pretty good!!

Yup, I better go running today.  Looks like I'll be needing as much room in my kilt as I can make!!

KiltedPrivateer

We are nowhere close to ready.  A new tent needs to be ordered. The garage needs to be cleaned out so that I can TRY to find all of our gear.  AHH!  Way too much to do.

This may be a bit off topic, then again, with so little time left it might be relevant:

Do or have any of you used a tent footprint?  At TRF?

Laird Fraser of Lovatt

That's how I used to track them whenever they'd sneer off on me... Pretty easy to follow, unless they are wild tents.   ;D

Not heard the term "tent footprint" before.  But we use a ground tarp under every tent.  Be sure the tarp is not exposed beyond the edges of the tent or you WILL have a lake under your tent.

I never camp without a tarp under the tent, folded carefully to make sure it is completely under the edges of the tent (if you're not lucky enough to find one that is exactly the size of your tent floor, minus 2" on all sides), and absolutely NOT sticking out anywhere, or as KP said, it will collect any water that runs down the sides of the tent, and funnel it right underneath (meaning it WILL seep INSIDE).  It will, however, help protect the floor of your tent from sharp(ish) objects, and prolong it's life by a great deal... provided you are careful to check for really nasty things before you lay it out, at any rate.

I'm seriously considering the merits of laying out another tarp inside the tent, as well, under our carpets, for extra insulation, and to make good and sure that they stay dry, and so does our gear.  Even with the tarp underneath we've ended up with rain in the tent on occasion (the monsoons two years ago, for instance), so it would be nice to have a bit of extra insurance.

Just about certain I'm going for the inflatable tent... and all but ready to push the button on the order.  Just need a little... nudge.

Oh... and my favorites from the kitchens are also the cheesecake (chocolate dipped, of course)... and the Kitchen Sink baked potato.  There is only one potato stand you can get it from, and it's not on the menu... you have to ask for it by name.  It's got all of the toppings together, on one spud... and the renlet and I can split one and get full!  :o  They're BIG!!!  lol

Oh, I agree!  Only 6 weeks for us, and I just ordered our tent, and new sleeping bags, as well!  It was about time... our old ones are, well... old!  One of them is even older than my renlet, by several years!  lol

Can't wait to get everything in, and set it all up and seal the seams!

Hmmm... I think we could use a bit of Jules' Rennie Math right about now, along with Bonny's poem!  Where is that girl, anyway?  Looks like a few others are starting to check in, also...

Who knows... we might even see Riot streak through here pretty soon, also!  :o  lol

Ode to TRF

For many a month we have all been cold sober

But huzzah, huzzah for the month of October!

When fair maidens, brave knights, pirates and wenches

Don their best garb and tighten those cinches!

For all will be gathering in the lanes of yore

To rekindle old friendships and add sparks to many more!

Bellies will be full with offerings from the pantry

And many a merchant will have favors aplenty!

The mead will be flowing, the kegs will be tapped,

The rum will be running, huzzah to that!

A grand time will be had by all this Autumn

As long as the drink does not knock us on our bottoms!

At last all will say we are no longer cold sober,

So Huzzah, Huzzah to the month of October!
