I actually saw your post, Rani, before i left work last night... yes, 6am till 10:15pm... 45 hours in 3 days.

Oh, Fraser... that's the kind of thing that will land you in a rubber room somewhere, playing motorboat with your lower lip!  Or in the cardiac ward...  :(

I hope you're taking care of yourself these days!  Eating right, and NOT living on coffee and nicotine!

It's been a migraine kind of day for me.  Horrible blinding pain accompanied by sharp, stabbing pain.  Fun...

Not quite as bad, now, though... so I'm going to put my sunglasses on and go get the guinea pig some food... and maybe some potato/corn chowder for myself.  I dunno, though... it looks AWFULLY bright out there!  :-\

I'm not really sure if I'm ready for Con this weekend, or not...

Bonny - was the ground still muddy from the rains a couple days ago, or were conditions pretty good?

I can think of better ways (and better places than a rubber room) to play motor boat...  ;D  LOL

Oh, wait... were you talking about the caffeine and nicotine?  ::)

We had Con this weekend, and I'm still kind of amazed that I DIDN'T just keel over in the middle of it all...

Much as I love getting to play dress up (and staying up until the wee hours)... I'm actually kind of glad that we DON'T have plans for next weekend.  I still haven't recovered from AHE!

This whole "social butterfly" thing is exhausting!  ;)

Well, that was a fun little 3.9 magnitude earthquake...  :o

I didn't even know you had earthquakes up there, but then I saw the news.  Hope all is well.

PollyPoPo

Saw something on the news about a big blast at a quarry, that many people thought was an earthquake which was followed by some seismic activity (not yet determined when the article was posted).

Funny thing is I used to live about a mile from that quarry area (not nearly as big a hole in the ground as now).

there's been a lot of 3-4 Richter quakes for the past 40 years up in that area due to CO2 injections into oil wells that are reaching tap-out phase. Ironically, the injection is supposed to stabilize and pressurize the well to extract the last bits before the final filler is introduced, but gas tends to be a bit... dodgy :)
No idea if that's what happened, there ARE fault lines up there (and a freakin' NASTY one to the east, the New Madrid nightmare-waiting-to-happen, that has been twitching of late), but I guess it would depend on your proximity to one of the mature wells OP has up there.

There's a NASTY one right around the corner from Rani... Laird Nasty, that is.  His damn plate on his truck reads "1NASTY1".  LOL

LOL @ Fraser!

We do actually have our own fault line running through here... AND we have a lot of greedy idiot oil companies fracking up here, as well.  NOT a good combination.  OK has traditionally had a LOT of seismic activity, but until recently (last 3-4 years) it has almost all been under the 1.0 magnitude range.  Until these companies really started stepping up their fracking ops in the state.  Most notably in the Jones, OK area.

Yesterday we actually had 11 earthquakes, the strongest now being called a 4.0, and the rest somewhere between 1.8 and 2.5.  We have them every day, now, getting stronger, and it does worry me, because there is nothing anyone can do to control that kind of event.... and I have a child to think about.  There are valid reasons why fracking has been banned in so many other developed nations, and these dangerously greedy corporations need to be held responsible for their actions!  I'm not ready to be swallowed up by a big hole in the ground!  :o
