Well done and well met.

Gem, here's a close up of the belt with my figure as a measurement guide

IMG 0885 par Isabella, on ipernity

Unfortunately, the belt lasted maybe a couple of hours.  The second belt I brought just in case didn't last more than an hour (I sneezed a lot that day...).  I gave up after that and tied a big pink scarf around me.  It didn't look as great as I wanted the entire outfit to look, but it kept everything where it should be!

For this one:

I forgot my stays - doh!- but the dress was just tight enough not to look ridiculous while wearing it.  I made the dress based on the Anne of a Thousand Days movie.  I've always loved the brown dress.

  Awesome job, Stuben!
I have some serious fabric envy going on now...

Isabella-don't feel bad-I forgot my stays, and my bumroll ,and my farthingale the last weekend of the DMRF. I only brought my dress, and I ended up in mundane clothes.  :o
I love the thousand days dress too.  One of my friends  has this style but usually doesn't have someone around to help her dress, so made her gown with spring steel boning spaced 1/2 inch apart built into the interlining of the bodice...You would never know she was not wearing a separate corset.  I'm considering it for my next gown.
What doesn't kill me-had better run.

I got an opportunity to go to Sterling RF in NY while visiting the area for a wedding, I remembered my skirt, boots, stockings and bodice- forgot a chemise! PLUS I hadn't tried anything on yet for the season and had lost like 30 pounds so the bodice just hung from my shoulders... I ended up in mundanes that day.

I went to A Gathering of Rogues and Ruffians yesterday and wore my Moresca bodice backwards the whole day.  And nobody noticed, not even me until I took it off and realized the size tag was in the front.

Throughout the  day, it felt like it was riding up, but it wasn't.  It  was just because the back goes up higher than the front.   ::)

Thanks Lady Kathleen and Rowan MacD  :) It pales in comparison to what you are making but I did enjoy the learning process and being in garb at the faire.

Thanks, y'all.  I'm going to remember my stays tomorrow!

I'm also bringing this:

It's a handsewn silk partlet done in the mid 16th century Italian style.

So I'm finally getting around to put up some pics. This is Amara's most recent incarnation. She'll be revealing it at faire tomorrow. Her snood is torn, so it'll get replaced while we're there too.

Oh, Amara looks great!! I can't believe how big she's getting! How does she like wearing middles? I want to make some H/Aish garb for my twin nieces, but I'm afraid they'll reject it in favor of "Sparkly Princess!!"

Here is my Epic Project for this season. I finished the major part of it--the English fitted gown--but not the accessories (hat & sleeves, so the styling is not quite as I'd planned. I worked with what I had!  ;))

Fitted English gown of duck green velvet & bronze taffeta.

More details & photos on my dress diary!

Stuben

Everyone making such beautiful things! And Gem, WOW! I really like it with the Campi dress and embroidered smock.

Seeing wee ones in garb always brings a smile.

gem, lovely Middle Class ensemble. Your attention to detail never ceases to amaze me.

Well done, everyone.

Irish Kate

Gem, I absolutely love it! That looks perfect on you, and I'm really glad to see how the Tudor Tailor pattern looks in finished form.

Finally uploaded our finished outfits for Bristol 2014, first time posting photos (hope they load!):

Me - I went for a Queen Mary I silhouette, hoping to make an Elizabethan gown dual-purpose as Tudor for Tudor-era faires (hence the turn-back sleeves)
Outer fabric is a pale blue with a subtle tan pattern, tan faux suede trim on the skirt, tannish-copper colored silk underskirt.

Himself - Red faux suede, Calontir Trim "Venice" in red/black/gold, tan tapestry slops.
Keep Calm and get the Seam Ripper!

Hoowil

Gem, she loves it. Her only complaint is that it is a little warm. The bodice is suit-weight wool, lined with cotton, the chemise is linen, and her skirts are a cotton/wool blend. It breaths pretty well, and is as close to totally h/a materials as I'm going to get, but compared to shorts and a t-shirt its warm. I don't know if its because we started the kids so young, but she loves her middles, and her doublet gown (which after two years barely reaches past her knees), and complains when I try to go a little more peasant for her. Her brother on the other hand as born to be a dirty peasant. I'll try to get pics of his newest up too, and once I finish the MA project for me, that'll be up too.

Oh Hoowil! I have a skirt in the same color and have been puzzled over what color bodice I want to go with it for next year... Blue is now a front runner!
