Centuries Sewing:  Your work is always so well-executed, with so much attention to detail.

Not so great photos, but my "Germa-Bethan" debuted on Saturday, February 21, at the Arizona Renaissance Festival.  The only photo of the full outfit captures me losing my balance attempting to pose near a tree.

Absolutely Beautiful, Irma. Well done!

A finished shirt in 100% Linen, Gold decorative stitching, with Gold metallic trim for the ruff edges, Gold with Pearl center buttons for a client in Idaho. This shirt is a gift to the client's husband. This is the second shirt I have done for this client. Any inquiries, feel free to PM me.

Lady K, I just love that! I've been playing with the deco stitches on my machine lately (trimmed a toddler dress with feather stitch--SO cute!); you've given me further inspiration! (And, fair warning, you'll see one of your pictures in your Pinterest feed, b/c I've added it to my boards.  ;))

Finally, I finished with my Husband's Christmas present of a new Pirate Coat. He has decided to go from an Earl to a Pirate. Next on the list for him, new Pirate pants.

This coat is made of a Plum colored Denim I found at SR Harris last June. The lining is a smoky grey Cotton. Buttons are from Jas. Townsend and Sons. I used decorative stitching  to indicate False buttonholes. Fully functioning pockets.

A shout out to gem....Thank you. I too enjoy playing around with the many decorative stitches I have on my machine. I found a combination that is my signature with variations. Decorative stitching says something special to garb items and gives them more character.

Loving the sage and cream colors Dinobabe.   Lovely shoulder treatments!

Lady Kathleen- I am seriously wanting that shirt....

Question for the masses:
Have any of you done the MA Comfort Gown with Kirtle?   I'm currently transferring the pattern to sturdier stock.   I'm looking for a cooler and less restricting garment for the hotter days at faire.
The plan is to make both garments floor length, worn over a narrower farthingale, and paned sleeves.
I have not decided on whether to go with clasps or buttons yet (that's alot of closures).

If you have made it-do you like it?

Sneak peek of my latest project - an Italian camicia in the style of the late 16th century. I went a bit hardcore on this one. Partly because the linen used is almost 100 years old (and still of fantastic quality), partly because my grandmother has done amazing work with the blackwork on the sleeves. So everything is handsewn and made as period as possible.

The main motifs - one with pomegranate/vine/acorn, and one with rose/pansy/fleur-de-lis - are copied from an extant Italian camicia in the care of The Met in NYC.

ETA: Proper photos of the full thing will be posted when I have time to dress up and take some decent photos of a full outfit! In the mean time, a bit more info can be found in my FB site:

What can I say but......WOW!

Much appreciated!  :) Another sneak peek. Tried to take proper photos today, but the light wasn't good and I dressed hastily by myself (=looked a mess) and the only semi decent one was this selfie closeup:

But the camicia is a good combo with the blue "Peacock" dress in Florentine style. Looking forward to trying it out with the black velvet dress in Roman style!

Operafantomet-Freaking amazing, as always.   The camica sleeves are a near perfect match for the dress.
The peacock dress was machine embroidered? wow.

Operafantomet.  What a beautiful blue.  The embroidery is beautiful beyond words.

Thank you for your very, very kind words! The Peacock dress has a velvet trim that looks like embroidery. It was used in double rows for the bodice and skirt, and single rows for the sleeves. I bought it at the hobby store Panduro some years ago. Alas they don't have it any more, but when they had a clearance sale I grabbed a golden version. It's sitting in my stash, waiting to be used! I'm seeing something Florentine happening...

Here's a better look at the single and double rows of the trims on the dress:

Absolutely ALL credit should go to my grandmother there. We've had some very fun collaboration project where I sketch the pattern on a fabric, she embroiders it, and I sew it together. So also here. But the embroidery here (which she thought was super boring... she loves colours, and this was all black!) is so beautifully executed, the pomegranates has three "cells" in the main shape, and the vine leafs have a line down the middle. It adds so much texture. So yeah, all credit to my grandmother for the amazing work she did! I will definitely pass on the compliment. Here's a closeup, for those interested.
