Well, I'm willing to bet that Ole Gustav will make land fall some were between Port Arther and New Orleans. And gas will go back up to 4 dollars a gal.

As long as it continues to squeak by me...I'm happy!

Got chased back to port by a major Squall today...I took video of it.  If I can get Mario or Sean to show me how to do it, I'm gonna compress it and give you guys a link.  Just another day in Paradise!!!

Welsh Wench

OK if it stays on its current path, I may only get brushed by it.
YAY for us, NoBill!

Glad to hear you are OK, Festmum!
I'll be glad when this summer is over!

Looks like the Big Easy is set to become the Big Soggy, again. And just this Sunday, I read an article in the local rag about the progress on the levees (or lack of), how inadequate they still are, all the state & local bureaucratic boondoggle slowing it down, and the lack of preparedness among the residents. Scary.

I wouldn't mind seeing it veer far enough south to send us some more rain, but I don't wish all the rest of it on anyone in its path, that's fer sure.

It's really amazing how Missisissippi (Biloxi Sun-Herald)
has managed to rebuild after just as much damage as New Orleans.
It seems to indicate just how corrupt New Orleans is.

What amazed me... is how when hurricane Rita hit 2 weeks later in my home town that we were off the news so fast.
Something about how we didn't have looting and killing didn't seem to get much interest.
Also didn't get squat for assistance from the government.
Not that I am bitter or anything...

Good news for Florida--

QuoteTropical Storm Gustav will continue moving through the western Caribbean Sea and possibly into the Gulf of Mexico by early next week. The track of the storm is the result of a ridge of high pressure centered just east of Florida. This ridge of high pressure will prevent Gustav from turning northward through this weekend. Gustav should then pass south of Florida, which comes as a relief to many residents in the state who saw record rainfall amounts from Tropical Storm Fay just one week ago.

Story by AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Wanenchak.

Aye, yeah now that they are parading all around me here in Miami, I'm watching them all very closely.. Even TS Fay was to close for comfort, though it did finally stop raining here like 2 days ago from it...

I've got my eyes on Invest 95 now.  September is just around the corner and seems to be the scariest for us out here on the teeny tiny islands.
