Dragonwing- Is that an Italian design? It reminds me of some of the Florentine art I've looked at.

Lady Caroline - your chemise/smock looks very nice. Have you made that one too?

Yes, I did, thank you! It was just your basic four rectangles, triangles cut off at the corners, drawstring neck.  I trimmed the cuffs in lace, and then I sewed the same lace around the top edges of the dress bodice.  I then had my daughter crawl under the whole ensemble (hoops and all, lol) and pull down the chemise, so you couldn't see it, just the lace on the dress :)  And I love the feel of the material, and the way it drapes and falls over my arms.  I actually made it from a satin bedsheet, with the shiny side facing in, and the "wrong" side facing out.  I plan to make many more chemises with this type of material.  Both occasions I wore this were extremely hot, but it did not show any perspiration or feel uncomfortable at all.

I love your Venetian!  I'm not quite ready to tackle something so difficult yet, but I will someday! Thanks for posting the picture!

DragonWing:  Very nice!  I wish I could wear red like that!  Did you make the shoes also?

sealion, I believe it is but not HA. I am guessing very earlier, like 1200's or 1300's. It is a costume pattern from JoAnnes.  It's suppose to have a floppy muffin hat. There is a silver and red one I poseted earlier this year

This is it.

Thank you Lady Caroline,

On the shoes, sort of. they are cheap Patten leather slipper shoes from a chain store and we added grosgrain ribbon for the ties.  ;D

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Just sent off for a wedding this ensemble. Made from a Deep Navy Cotton Velveteen, maroon Silk embroidered in gold with period flowers, trims, pearls, gold piping and ribbon trims. The only items purchased were the Black Suede Elizabethan Tall hat and plumes(not pictured) from Excalibur Leather.

The trim on the slops were pearled after this photo was taken.

The fabric was from Hancock. Wide trim and buttons from Pillaged Village called FRAMES, gold trim and piping from JoAnn's, pearls from FireMountain Gems.

This is awesome.  I love Nobleman's garb.

Coo!  There's posh!  Love it, Lady Katherine.  My latest project doesn't have quite that elegance, and isn't quite the same period, but I think I did a good job on the shoulders...

And I liked the cuffs...

Thank you all.

Kate!!  I have been in awe of your work for some time now. As with each piece I see here from forum members, the talent is amazing.

Keep it up Ladies and Gents!!!

Lady K- That is gorgeous!

Kate- Your project may not be as flashy but it is certainly elegant!

Thank you, peoples.   :-* :-*

This was one of those projects that started well, hit a long hiatus, stalled, attempted to become a UFO, and acquired an enormous guilt field (which must have been impressive as I don't do guilt!   ;D )  Came out OK in the end, though.  The model is my almost 14 YO son James, and not the owner of the robe.  The robe is slightly strained across his shoulders!

Kate!!!

Masterpieces take their time. Michaelangelo took 4 years to do the Sistine Ceiling!!!

Each piece you do is a masterpiece!!!

Thank you.

I have the full story ready to publish on my web site, but need to make room for it.  I have a feeling that details like how the sleeve heads went in will be useful.

The velvet has Hong Kong finishes to the skirt seams!  (I cheated with the lining and serged those seam allowances!   :D )

;D Just wonderful Lady Kathleen.  That is my next venture. To do something a little more difficult. Nice work, but at last yours are always wonderful.
