Thanks to all for sharing the wonderful pictures. It'll have to do us until we make the trek down from the Red River. Every photo I see screams "wish you were here!" and boy do we wish we were there! Can't wait to "be in the picture".......See you all in a few weeks. Again, thanks for sharing.

Sir Martin: Contrats on the XSi.  I hear ya about the learning curve.  Happens to me every time, get a new camera body and my picture quality drops like a rock.  After about 2000 images you get the controls down, by about 10000 images it's back to being automatic again.  ;)

Vault: Yep, the 70-200mm f/4 is sweet.  Big wins  are better contrast, much better auto-focus speed (schweeet!), and 1 stop faster. Downsides, pricey (this is the IS version) compared to non-IS, it's a bit heavier than the old lens, and losing 100mm at the long end.  However the 200-300mm range on the old lens was always soft.  Trade-offs, I'm still keeping the old lens as there are times when I know I'm going to need the extra focal length (and for times when I don't want to stand out as a walking STEAL ME! sign in unknown urban areas).  :-\  Did you figure out if your Sigma flash can do High Speed Sync with the Canon?

Well I had to go searching for the box and documentation for the flash, but it does do High Speed Sync apparently.  I really don't have much knowledge about flash usage to understand more than flash on/off and bouncing the flash.  I need to get my head wrapped around flash work and some other areas of proper camera adjustments (such as exposure adjustment) to improve my photography.

I am very pleased with the auto-focus speed myself on my 70-200mm, beats the crap out of the old cheapo 70-300mm I used to shoot with.  I am not really missing the IS capabilities, however I haven't tried it low light settings yet where it might come in handy.  Plus it is 1/2 the price of the IS version, so was an easy choice for what I typically shoot.

i think that's bc the photographer was obsessed with people in chain mail and belly dancers!!! that must have been from the first weekend since i didn't see one fairy in the bunch :(  i personally think our fair photographers got tons better shots!! huzzah to valt, fergus, melkar, mrsmccunn and others :)
