I can honestly say that camping was kinda boring this last weekend. I'm not complaining at all. I was just expecting some kind of drama. Which never happen. And I didn't have anything stolen.
It was actually nice. I didn't hear any speaker music on my walkabouts Friday or Saturday night.

We came in on Friday about 11:30 in the morning and we did not get our regular spot...so we were over near the new road that crosses the draw.  Friday night was great on the tame side...but Saturday night the ravers set up in the gully or wash, ...whatever you want to call it (in our back yard so to speak) and started with the techno music, but wound up playing a variety of tunes including the Beatles and many others, it was not too loud, so we decided not to call in on them.  They had a parchute they strapped over pvc poles and started a fire under it and it billowed the chute and it looked like a giant mushroom.  My only complaint is they did not pick up their trash.

When we were breaking camp on Sunday there was some dude flying on God only knows what that was trying to pick a fight with anyone...guys ...girls.  Talked about having a gun and then moments later security came over and said they had dealings with this same guy the night before.  They talked to him, he simmered down a bit and as soon as they left, he fired back up again, this time got in his car and sped thru the campground and then then finally took him off to jail I assume, as you could hear them talking to him over the loud speaker, my hubby and brother were watching the show and were waiting for to see if they were going to taze him, did not see them do it.  Kudos to the security and law enforcement officers.  Thank you!

My poor pirate is still feeling the repurcussions of Sat night. He managed to hurt himself and we think if anything severly bruised or cracked a rib. He is trying to take it easy this week, so he won't be in too much pain this weekend. And being the tough pirate that he is, he doesn't want me or anyone else showing him attention because of it....men! LOL.....

Miss McCleavage....I am sure he and Graeme appreciate the thank you's for drumming. Those 2 aren't happy unless they get a good solid drum beat going lol.

it might of been the guy they arrested right by our camp Sunday night.  Took 4 of our guys from McLotofus and Mike (and later Bill, Charlie and Craig) to get him down.

I had expected things were going to be crazy at the pit Saturday night but was pleasantly surprised to find that was not quite the case. My daughters boyfriend wanted to check the area out and see if he would be able to do some poi spinning.
We headed down from our camp to check things out and found the main area around the fire was over crowded so he and another guy who was spinning a staff moved outside the circle and had a pretty good show going for about 45 min to about
an hour with no problems from the crowd. I did see security pull one guy out and was questioning him when we were heading
back to our camp.
Looks like things are beginning to get better at the pit area although it's still a far cry from what I remember the pit being 5 and 6 years ago.

We were there just as they started their fire show.  They did a great job.  I do have to commend everyone around the drum circle, at one time just before they started the fire show, people were crowding the drum circle and a few people took the bull by the horns and were asking everyone to step back and everyone did that I could see.  It was a good crowd and a good time.

I have this weird feeling that the guy RenRobin speaks of was in our campsite the night before. He came over and was cussing the lightbulbs in the coleman lamp and was just about ready to pick a fight with anyone who would listen to him. Said he was on 8 tabs that a friend had given him and more than just a little alcohol. We had him and the next morning some guy who fell into the fire and burned the hell out of his hand... he wandered drunkenly into our camp and was smoking 3 cigs at a time in his burned hand and spilling beer everywhere. It was my first year camping there and i enjoyed it... on friday night the techno near our campsite got a little loud and someone with the motorcycle and airhorns kept keeping me awake by revving/blowing them to get the fire circle folk to go insane. Like I said though a pretty good experience. I hope to audition for the Faire next year and hope that if I get a job that I would be able to go into the camp to hang out with my group though!

You know, we had a guy wander into out camp Sunday morning (10am or so) asking where the bonfire was.  He had 4 fingers wrapped up from burning them and (pretty sure) was under the infulence of a LOT of alcohol and probably high.  DS led him out to the street, since he was wanting to walk through camp to get to the bonfire, and he kept asking if we knew Leo.

"I'm looking for a guy named Leo.  Do you know Leo?"

There will always been people like this, but if we can keep them to a minimum, I'm happy.

And he stank to high heaven. Offended me delicate sensibilities, he did...

Oh yes that was him! he was asking for susanne though... we were wondering if the accent was real.  We were far from the bonfire so we just kinda told him to go "that" way. He circled around about 5 times before we didnt see him anymore!

Lmao..I always steer the mundane drunks towards the cess pool. They'll wander into camp and ask if we've seen "Brian" or "Nancy" I tell them "oh you just missed him/her! They went thataway!!" And I point. Works every time  :P

Playing with the pissers is a right good time. I usually point them off into the Dark Forest.

Ah - as I have posted in the other forum before it was replaced, I like the idea of at least one person having a ticket when entering the campground.

I also like the idea of the cattle ranch tape being disallowed.  First come First served is a bit of a joke - not to mention the ranchers don't provide for driving or walking to the open areas inside.  It is especially irritating when you can look on Saturday night the purpose of the tape wasn't to save spaces for people but to mark their territory.

The tarps ARE a good idea.

When I lived in TX I went to the Faire A LOT but I have to admit there were times when I thought about just taking a weekend break.  Luckily there are plenty of people who behave themselves.

I might have to start thinking about planning to get out there next year.
