Can I play, too?

Stronghold Castle, Oregon, Illinois

This Tudor-style castle was completed in 1930 as a summer home for newspaper publisher William Strong. The Stronghold Conference Center, operated by the Presbytery of Blackhawk, holds an Olde English Faire every October, with the Castle as the centerpiece.

I'm guessing this picture was taken at the Illinois castle, but does anyone know if its based off something older?  anyone seen an original?

There are figurals similar to this on French and English illuminated manuscripts from the 14th and 15th centuries.

Oh, a sad castle.  Looks like it's well on it's way to ruins.  I'd move in, though (just have to win a big lottery...)

Castle Crichton in Scotland.
Crichton Castle is a short drive from Edinburgh and is found in a bleak location at the end of a track off the B6367 road near Pathhead. The existing ruin appears to be a homogenous building, with four ranges grouped around a central courtyard. However, many changes have been made since John de Crichton first built a great tower house in the late fourteenth century.

Dussen Castle is surrounded by a castle-moat, which dates from the early 14th century. The castle was damaged during second world war. Since the latest restoration back in 1953 the castle is in use as the town-hall and it is furnished in the early renaissance style.

Castello di Vignoni in the village of Bagno Vignoni. The name of this ancient suburb derives from Vignoni, castle already known in the XI century, whose traces dominate the high ground above the suburb, and from the thermal waters used since the Roman epoch, as they testify numerous archaeological finds that are found in the collection Chigi in Siena National Archaeological Museum.

Castle Duffus is one of the finest examples of a motte and bailey castle in Scotland. The raised ground of the motte and bailey look somewhat out of place sitting like an island in a sea of very flat farmland, but at the time of its construction its position was far more strategic. Currently the castle is slowly sinking into the earth.
