No pattern, the only ones I found were from one of the Big 3 and they didn't look like this at all, so I just worked an idea out in my head. It's not EXACTLY what I was thinking, but it worked. It's basically rectangles of fabric, sewn to another rectangle, a cording pocket sewn in, then drawn up.

Oh, man, you are going to make me try to make sense of this?! LOL : )

The fabric is all 60" wide.  The long skirt part is the base of the skirt, it runs from floor to the waist band. (I think I cut it 42" long, my measurements are at home.)  It's hemmed at the sides and bottom. Both bustles are a single rectangle 64" long, hemmed at the sides and bottom.  The top part attaches at the waist band; I marked the halfway point of the rectangle, and attached it 6" below the waistband.  I attached the bottom to the base skirt I think 11" down from the waistband.  At the top of the skirt is a short rectangle of fabric 6" long, that I hemmed with black lace; underneath that is about 4 layers of black tulle.  So attached to the waist band, in order from inside to outside, is the skirt, the top of the bustle, the tulle, and the short rectangle of fabric.  I was going to hand gather the bustles, but then I realized that sitting on it would probably break the thread, so I went back and sewed a small casing to the bottom of the first bustle, and the bottom of the second bustle.  I hand gathered the top of the waistband, pulled it to where I wanted it, attached it to a waistband, then gathered the bottom two bustles to match. Does that make any sense? :)

WOW! The color is soooooo beautiful. I love the design!

Nothing fancy here. On another forum I frequent we had a 10+ year member die in his early 40's, leaving behind a widow and three children. Long story short, there were auctions that raised over $6k to help her out, but the money was stolen by some fellow forum members, and the auctions needed to be done all over again. Since I'm always very low on cash, I decided to donate what I did have, plenty of fabric and time. I did an auction for a bodice or corset for $100 to go directly to the widow, anything the buyer wanted (within reason). Luckily for me she wanted something simple, to be worn with a lace chemise and jeans.

Lorraine, that looks very beautiful, and well made.  That story about the money getting stolen just breaks my heart!!!!  Were they able to catch the criminals, and press any kind of charges???

Sorcha

Lorraine~  Your work is as fine as your gesture to the family.  May Karma smile upon you!

LadyShadow

Such lovely work from a kind hearted person.  I hope the catch the wrong doer
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.
