Mead prices

Yup prices are up, and the cups were smaller, but please don't blame Jim. MAF sets the retail price and supplies him with the cups.

Yeah, we heard that it wasn't Jim. Too bad they are pushing this. When it costs $12 bucks to sorta fill a mug its not going to help business.

I did hear Jim encouraging one of the new workers on Sunday to be sure to give customers a "full measure" by filling the cups right to the brim.

Seriously, EVERY customer I saw buying mead yesterday was complaining.  I feel bad for the mead wenches having to take the brunt of the complaints.  they should put up a sign saying "If you have any complaints, please contact Jim Peterson personally at..." with his cell phone number on it.

I tipped the servers for that reason. Its not their fault.

Yup.. Beer prices are up this year too... Not by much, (25 cents on domestic and 25 cents on import) but it did certainly effect the tips... Not that I work there for the money, but a little extra here and there is nice.. 

Cups stayed the same size though...

Lot of it has to do with CKC too, they are behind most of it. The wine sells have been complaining that mead is selling more, bigger glasses, and cheaper. So of course they are forcing Jim to do it, and talking to him last year he hates doing it. Maybe Dorky can get it all straight sense she worked for CKC last year and now is working for Jim.

The good news is thou, they do have rubar mead at the one just past the Vil stage on your way down to the Hobbit hole on the left....

so basically, they are trying to even out the sales of the wine/beer  and the mead?  Its all alcohol, i guess i don't really understand what the difference is. I mean, mead is a big seller out there. Ya, I want to go out to fest to buy beer or wine, which I can get every day out side of fest. Mead? It's only at fest if you like that kind of mead. So, let's up the prices and make the galsses smaller-so that will make the sales of beer/wine more. Yea, i don't get it. Sorry, wasn't trying to be snarky, but really they have what? 2? 3? meads booths this year? I personally think greed. But that's just me. Just my 2 cents about it.

I know a little background info, but being that Dorky is the "in person", I will let her respond officially.  She would probably say it better than myself this morning anyway.  ...there isn't enough coffee in the whole state to wake me up.

Word was a year, or so ago when Jim the mead guy was cut back to one booth it was because the big wine supplier was complaining about the competition from the mead.

It may not be their fault but it will have a HUGE impact in the amount of mead I buy.  I could not believe what I paid for a "shot glass" of mead.  It was good, very good, but not that good.  I love MNRF but high prices will temper my spending, just the basic laws of economics.

That, and my grey bearded face being carded everywhere.  Maybe they feel it's needed, and maybe it is, but it does annoy me.  If something annoys the customer eventually they tire of the annoyance and go elsewhere.

Well, the carding isn't just for age anymore. Bars are now supposed to be checking the backs of licenses for people with restrictions due to things like DUI's
